A2A Accu-Sim Cessna 172 may be out "within the week"

In my part of world automatics are rare, there is no school for driving automatics only, and honestly, I don't know if I know how to drive automatic. :D

I thought I posted this but I guess not....

Will there be an Accusim addon for this or is it built into the main package already, I believe the Civ Mustang had those kind of features already right? Or am I confused somewhere?

No, the Civilian Mustang needs the Accu-Sim package.  The only difference there is that a single Accu-Sim package covers both the civilian and military Mustangs, so if you already owned the military one and the Accu-Sim module, you didn't need to buy Accu-Sim again for the civilian version.

A2A (and its previous incarnation, Shockwave Productions) were making add-ons for years before they came up with Accu-Sim.  Accu-Sim started out as an enhancement to a base model (beginning with the original B377).  They've kept to that arrangement since - maybe to keep down the cost for people who don't want the Accu-Sim features.  The base models are pretty good, and of course you can now opt for a touch of Accu-Sim via the Accu-Feel product.

Another factor is that Accu-Sim now includes some core elements that affect all the aircraft starting with the Spitfire (and including the P-40 and both P-51's, but not the B-17, P-47 or Stratocruiser).  So when you upgrade "core Accu-Sim," it affects your other Accu-Sim aircraft.

I have no ties to A2A and I have no idea what they're going to do with the 172, but my guess would be that once again they'll offer a base model plus an Accu-Sim module, and a discount if you buy both together.

Ya I'm guessing C172 with accusim bundle will be $45 or $50 if you get them separate. Normally you save 5 bucks if you bundle.

I think the civ mustang was that much. The c172 seems to have more features but is a simpler acft per se so the pricing is just my theory.

In a real airplane like a 172 you MUST spend most of your time looking out the window, not a GPS.

Even under an IFR flight plan the PIC is responsible to see and avoid when in VFR conditions.

Are they usually out the same time?

Yes.

Cool, thanks.

Following that red line on the GPS is so boring...  B)  ^_^

I assume you're not keen on the airliners then. I get bored after an 30mins in cruise with the FMC and AP more or less running the show. Watching the aircraft follow that magenta line......

That's something I dont I don't like with the Katana is how much time it takes to inspect, maintain and repair stuff. With accusim these things is much less time consuming, eg fixing a broken part can be done with a simple mouse click, but with the katana I have to wait "forever" before the timer runs out or something. They don't really need to simulate how much time it takes to replace an engine:p

You can just turn off all the maintenance, wear and tear etc. and use it like any other FSX aircraft.

I'd imagine the A2A add-on will be similar. If you don't want to check everything before flying, you should be able to skip it, just hit Ctrl+E and take off. Sometimes when I come home from work I only have 30-45 minutes for a short flight. I'd rather spend that actually flying than clicking through dialog boxes in a virtual "hangar". However when I have more time (weekends etc.) I want to do everything properly.

Flying VFR with a real paper chart is really fun. You have to pay attention or you'll get lost. Keep looking for rivers, roads, towns etc. Also, you feel more connected with the world when you can follow along, pick out the names of towns on the chart as you fly over them etc. The scenery actually becomes an important part of the simulation, rather than just eye candy.

Glad I'm not the only one who is far more excited by this than the T7 :-).
