Will REX Simair Experience be the new FSPassengers/Airhauler?

Featured Replies

Does anyone have any idea is Simaire is really happening ... anytime soon?  It's been ages since they announced it and it seems very little info has gone out about it in a while.  Very curious -- but trying not to get my hopes up.

I gave up....  and won't purchase it anyway when it's out....  can't stand this ridiculous several years teasing anymore from developpers.

too much, too soon....

That is indeed quite silly. I wonder what is the great plan behind an enormous marketing hype and then absolutely nothing...

Personally I'm looking forward to Air Hauler 2 & future FScaptain updates.

Can't get excited of Simair after all this long silence. I hope there's something happening behind the scenes, to me it has so far seemed like as if REX was just concentrating on updating their texture addon & weather engine, both of which are useless to me as I'm perfectly happy with my old REX textures & Active Sky does everything better when it comes to weather generation.

WOW! - I am very sorry to see the responses here about REX SIMAIR.

We have not cancelled this project by any means.   We have explained what happened.  When we originally announced SIMAIR we filed for a trademark on the name.  For several months we were in a dispute with a very large and well know game studio over the use of the term "SIM".   It wasn't until about a year ago that we were able to restart development on this project under the new name "REX SIMAIR".

Understand that REX SIMAIR is not just an add-on for FSX/P3D.  It is a full massive-multiplayer game that can be used for Microsoft's Flight Simulator or Lockheed Martin's Prepar3D.  Also, understand that REX SIMAIR has a much larger goal in mind for the future ;)

In regards to the REX Direct products.  We have to remain competitive in this rapidly changing market.  We can't just abandon our main product line that wouldn't be fair to our current customers who expect the best work.  Especially, as we advance into new technologies to improve what we have done in the past.

Finally, we haven't said much nor shown much in that we do not want to give away ideas.  I believe you can understand that.

Mmm yeah I see, great to hear that Simair is still being worked on, the info given so far makes it seem like an extremely interesting and innovative project.

I'm certainly looking forward to its release, whenever that might happen.

I firmly support your products. I own REX+OD, REX4 and Latitude. I highly recommend all of them when appropriate.

But the rollout of SimAir information has been a disaster. I understand that the trademark dispute was a setback, but there have been zero updates to http://simairexperience.com and you haven't provided any details on development progress. The image projected by your company is that this project is completely dead, or on hold.

If you are afraid to give away details, why mention it at all? What was the point of following SimAir on Facebook and Twitter?

Personally, I was hyped for this... a year ago.

I want it. I will buy it. Just stop teasing me! :P

Why is everybody pushing for online experiences...call me anti-social, hey i agree, but i don't like online 'experiences', tell me, if you are able; is this going to be a sole online experience, or will those of us misanthropes who hate interacting with people be able to us the product?

I do like FSCaptain, but the updates are rather intermittent, we go through long periods with no real support and then a flurry of updates and assistance followed by more silence.  I know that the author has been online to say that he has a personal issue, i understand and respect that, but as a paying customer, who still isn't able to use the Q400, i am less impressed.

rstough:  I guess the big question that most of us are really interested in (even though we haven't asked in this specific post in several months) is when, more or less, is there going to be an official first release?

I think many of the folks who are a little grumpy about the long delay will get over it if the product is a good one (and it sure sounds like it will be) and if there's a somewhat realistic time frame the launch.  I mean, is it going to be like 3rd or 4th quarter of this year, or more like 2015?  It's ok -- we can handle the truth.  I think we'd just rather that REX was honest about how far away it is than to feel like we've been teased for 1-2 years now.  Thanks.

I am totally with you. But...

I REALLY like the idea of building pilot profiles that have RPG-like values defining their rank and attributes, while interacting within a persistent world. It would give me a more deliberate reason to fly, if, in fact, that is where this software is headed.

I love what FSEconomy provides, but it just scratches the surface. Leaves me wanting more...

"I just wanna tell you both: good luck. We're all counting on you."

Maybe Rex's SimAir is due to be released with the Level-D 757???

Feigned dismay over the community's lack of patience? There's something I haven't seen since...

It appears as if this project has a slow fuse, but we can all only hope it ends with a big bang. I for one have faith in REX as all their products have been top notch so whenever it does come out I'm sure it will be great. However, I do look forward to sat least a little more information about the direction and features this product will have.

I understand that they don't want to give anything away to the competition, but at least put-up some new screen shots or a short video of how SimAir is progressing without showing too much.  That SimAir website looks the same as when they launch it.   Whatever happen to the Saitek contest?  Who won?  We need more info REX.  I'm very interested in you're product.  Really looking forward to it hopefully this year?...right?
