realair beech duke v2 and p3dv2

The Lancair Legacy doesn't work properly in P3D 1.4 so it probably won't in 2 either, most of the extra feature sounds don't work, things like the air brakes are silent, no extra wind noise and creaking airframe when flying uncoordinated or in turbulence etc.

True for the Legacy but not the Duke (based on previous post from someone in this forum)

The varied replies here illustrate exactly why we are not ready yet to make proper installers for P3d. It really is not a quick port over. Some are running our aircraft with few problems but there are

  • I have the realair turbine duke in p3d version 1.4 and using the estonia migration tool it works fine as far as I can tell. In fact it's become one of my favorite planes to fly.

That's bad news. I use the gns 430 and 530 extensively with my Realair airplanes. I want all of it to work in P3D V2 or above.

I'm not too concerned since there will be many add-ons that will take time to update. That's the main reason why I'm going to wait until SLI is supported. I'm not going to invest in another card, especially when all my add-ons are not going to work right away.

RealityXP doesn't work at all in any version of P3D, so even more reason for you not to bother.

Cheers, Andy.

Bad news concerning the Lancair Legacy... Then again, missing a few sounds isn't the end of the world. I do hope they will make it 2.0 compatible soon though.

All the sounds do work but only in P3D Legacy mode, that's if you use the Estonia migration tool.

Legacy mode is not a workable solution IMO. You're essentially renaming the .exe and internal process from Prepar3D to FSX, which can cause problems with native P3D addons.

The Duke and Turbine Duke 1.0 were the last RealAir addons that work with P3D 1.4. The additions to the 2.0 version and Lancair are programmed to hook into the FSX.exe process. Making them compatible is a 5-minute job for RealAir (they just need to change every instance of FSX to Prepar3D), but they won't do it.

I don't think it's a five-minute job. The Lancair uses Doug Dawson's sound gauge for the extra sounds which doesn't work in P3D. I don't have the Duke V2 so I can't say about that one.

Well, from what I've read it works with the Migration tool, which simply renames the P3D process and .exe to FSX.

Sure, but the gauge has to be modified by Doug first (what's his opinion on his gauges being used in P3D ?)

Unless Realair finds another way to play the event-triggered sounds if they want to support the new platform.

As for the sounds I won't miss them really I can't say I've ever heard wind sounds while when I make a turn. In the real thing

It's also for playing all the switch/knob sounds in the cockpit, which is very important to me.

  • 2 weeks later...

Is anyone else experiencing an issue with bouncing while taxiing using the Turbine Duke?  I have that problem. Otherwise, it works great once I am airborne.

well that is a shame, I have been looking forward to the new duke ,and was just about to purchase ,but suppose it is best left alone if it is not compatible with P3Dv2

That is too bad.  I was looking at purchasing it too.  Oh well, the good news is there are a lot of good add ons for P3d now and in the future.
