JV just making a statement on how he feels about .1% of his customers.
This was people having trouble with vector as you need to buy a mesh to really make it work. Well ofc it works without but not well.

Enjoy the read!

Every airport was put at its proper elevation. So if you use Vector over default FSX mesh there is a chance an airport will be sitting on a pimple or crater on the terrain. In order to correct it (make Vector work as most assumed it would out of the box) you need to use a 3rd party mesh..  Unless you study the Orbx website and forum, or read the manual before purchasing.. You would have never known this..  As most didn't. Then JV spouted the above when everyone started complaining about the elevation problems everywhere.

My biggest gripe with Vector, from the screenshots and reports I've read here on AVSIM, are the random roads that run through buildings and such.. Does a mesh fix this problem?

What a weird hobby this is, sometimes.....

Here is a copy of my post else where:

Wow...this Hobby is getting hard to keep up with. Last week many of the same names that are here in this thread were screaming that we had to all hate Lockheed Martin and then this weekend I was all pumped up to call them nasty names and out of no where you guys are now screaming all over the net that I should hate JV and ORBX and maybe even Pilots!

I am sorry but I have a some what weak mind and in the middle of it all I bought the vector product (stupid me, I had already been using mesh products for years). I then went straight to the ORBX site and said you are bad!! and even held up my fist. Well, that got me so excited that by mistake I loaded the vector product into of all things, P3DV2. Long story short, I hate them all!! They are Pigs and liars to a man!! OH and by the way, when you brain surgeons and lawyers get through saving the Flight Sim community then you should know that P3DV2 + Global + Mesh + Vector make one hell of a fun and smooth flight sim.

I actually find it refreshing to see a developer giving as good as he gets. For too long the small select group of simmers seem to think they can say what they like without recourse as they are a "customer". Good for you JV!

Thanks for the info. I think I will be definitely getting the Vector product as I already own high quality FSgenesis mesh coverage for almost all the continents & freeware should cover the rest so this should be no issue for me.

No a good quality mesh will not fix this problem.

The vector layer is on top of the landclass textures with no specific delineation of what is underneath.  This problem has been around for ever same issue occurs with UTX.

Unless the scenery is custom designed to deal with this issue, like some Orbx regional areas or local airport areas, you will find this issue is normal.

What's at stake?

At any point in a conversation where one side adds a personal comment, then the other side of the conversation has an opportunity to "defuse" the issue by how they respond, or not respond.

Like when two alpha males bump into each other, or two bull elks stake out their group of females, two Rocky Mtn rams head butt...the situation can be defused when one turns its back on the other, or deals with the situation in some non confrontation way.

I have been married for 40 years to the same loving wife.  If we disagree, which does happen, we understand what is at stake and choose wisely.

How about!

From what I have read so far, I think the advertising pages, the manual and related storefront information should have clearly specified that "to get the most out of this product it is highly recommended that it be supported also by a certain type of mesh product.  However, given that this is a work in progress, please be advised that we will work to ensure any anomalies that occur to users as a result of not having an addon mesh will be rectified through subsequent patches and upgrades."

Wisdom beyond my years for sure.

Remember -- Vector requires FTX Global, and FTX Global provides the land class modules called OpenLC, which are still on the way (Europe coming in a month or two).  Give this thing 6 months to a year to soak and mature.  By then we'll have the landclass updates, most of them anyway, and Vector will have a service pack or two to fix/adjust some shortcomings.  It isn't bad now, but I think this thing will really shine by the end of 2014.

Drink locally, Fly Globally.

How is it possible for one to spend over $150 on product and cheerlead it to be finally good and living up to what's advertised on the box over 356 days from now?

I'm done with Flight Simming..  It's unbelievable at the tolerance of failure in delivery customers will put up with.

"I know it sucks now, but just wait.. In over a year you'll be singing another tune!!!"

Seriously???  End users should be entitled to free Prozac to deal with the short comings developers just expect them to eat now a days.  So long.. I just can't deal with the commercial aspect anymore.. It's disgusting..

I tend to agree with you. Endless releases and endless added confusion as to what works with what and what doesn't. A few weeks ago I decided to take a year out from buying any more add ons to let things settle down after the even thicker soup that P3DV2 has created. Popped on here today, after a long absence, only to discover the latest fiasco of a clearly premature "please the bank manager" major product release operating at a fundamental operational level and a developer who seems to be blaming his customers for his organization's own failings. Even worse, some folks are even defending him. I think I may never come back.

I really think lives must be very dull if an imperfect product means the end of it all.....

Not so. When you step away from all this drama, you realize there are better ways to spend your spare time and money. I will stick with the add ons I have, but I'm not spending any more until things settle down and we all finally know what works with what again.

Seriously, one of the big problems is that folks race to get the latest add on without a second thought. I think more caution would make these premature releases a lot less common. It's apparently making some developers rather careless about what they unleash on the community, in terms of its actual readiness for market/fitness for purpose.

Any addon helicopter advertisement states "ACC pack needed", if it doesn't work with SP1+SP2 alone.

The Aerosoft Airbus advertising states "hardware throttle and rudder needed", because you can't control the Airbus throttles with your F1...4 keys alone.

Why don't the ORBX and flightsimstore product advertising mention addon mesh as a prerequisite?!?
