January 2, 201412 yr Still getting problems trying to connect for the past few days. Is everyone stuck indoors on Avsim trying to keep warm????
January 2, 201412 yr Experienced a 503 error earlier this evening. Not that cold where I am, but I guess lots of people are on holiday at the moment and are logging into Avsim (like me). Joel Murray @ CYVR (actually, somewhere about halfway between CYNJ and CZBB)
January 2, 201412 yr Avsim is a great resource, but as long as I can remember, Avsim forums have been very slow to access, and at times impossible when the server is down. Despite having fibre broadband it feels like I'm using a dial-up router when I visit Avsim's forums (I often wait around 2 mintues for each page to open). Yet funnily enough, accessing this forum today was fast! ..so maybe something has changed for the better. Happy New Year to everyone
January 2, 201412 yr This page took 1.2 seconds to load which is very good for the forums lately, I've seen a lot of 503 errors typically in the evening here in the US. Tom "I just wanna tell you both: good luck. We're all counting on you."
January 2, 201412 yr Moderator This page took 1.2 seconds to load which is very good for the forums lately, I've seen a lot of 503 errors typically in the evening here in the US. Always look in the upper right corner and take note of how many people have been "on line during the past 15 minutes." Currently, it is only showing 336, so it's not too surprising that response time is fairly quick! Response is problematic mostly whenever the number approaches the high 900's... Fr. January 2, 201412 yr Response is problematic mostly whenever the number approaches the high 900's... Time for new servers?
January 2, 201412 yr Author 315 people within last 5 minutes, but it still took 18 seconds for the main page and a further 12 seconds here. I know NZ is the end of the world, but ........... something is still very much amiss.
January 2, 201412 yr It is getting annoying no doubt. Could be a traffic related issues with low bandwidth on the avsim network. 503 looks like a cgi error under apache if it is hosted on a LAMP, maybe memory loads went up as perl / cgi eat a lot of memory . January 2, 201412 yr Author So much for Tapatalk being a problem maker Funny thing I am seeing here, and it often happens with and only with Avsim (to my knowledge), my Chrome browser still shows that it is still working on the main page as if it has not finished loading and I loaded that page about 5 minutes ago !!!
January 2, 201412 yr I have been getting alot of "Service is unavailable" or something to the effect of that. Usually refreshing gets it going. I haven't logged every outage. Unfortunately it is a very convenienttime for me - not any more..I haven't noticed any improvement lately. I'm also on fibre. It does appear that Avsim is the only site that hasaccess problems for me at these times. I have found that at these times access to other sites has beeninstantaneous both before and after these attempts above.Sadly, I have to shy away from trying to login at this time.I'm running Firefox 26.0.RegardsBill i7-3770K 4.2GHz, 16GB, GTX 970 4GB, Win 7 64bit, LG 38GL950G, CH Yoke/Pedals, T.16000M, GenX UK, UK2000 EGGP & EGCC, AeroSoft Gibraltar, FSC 9.5, FSL A320X, 737NGX A318/A319/A320/A321, A2A Cherokee/JF Hawk T1/Dino's EF2000, Iris Grob Tutor
January 3, 201412 yr Author I see 11 ads are being blocked by Adblock on Chrome and blocking these cuts down my access time by half. That in itself is a pity, because I would have no problem letting a few ads through because this is a free service, but ............ I don't have so much time. And I see 5 ads being served up on the mobile site???
