Which FSX 767?

Featured Replies

I quite fancy the idea of flying a jetliner that i've never flown before, i've flown lots of various 747s, 737s and 777s from various developers but the 767 has always been a one that's caught my eye as something different.

Question is, are either of the available 767 paywares worth buying and if so which one? I know of the Level-D and the Captain Sim but i've heard awful stuff about game-breaking bugs in captain sim products and the VC in the LevelD leaves a fair bit to be desired.

I know of none other than that, it's an outstanding aircraft.

Model wise, the winglets are too small for a 767 and the engines are not 100% equal to the real world counterparts. But they're very close.

I prefer CS 767 as having Level D installed caused my FSX to crash maybe 30% of the startups, I guess there's some conflict with its old DLL's and something in my system / fsx installation.

When the Level D 767 worked it wasn't bad though, if you don't mind quite outdated visuals and don't happen to have any such problems as I did then it's a good choice too. Flight 1 has the 30 day refund policy so you could try see if you like it or not.

What bug do you know about the CS 767 apart from the Top-of-descend issue?

The AVSIM review talked about issues with the aircraft bobbing up and down during cruise and very poor framerates. Either way from the three replies i've read and the rest of that review it sounds like it might be a good option to go for.

How much does the ToD issue affect flights?

I agree with poor frames with the CS but still a pretty good aircraft.  I also have the LVLD, which is a little outdated but has excellent frames on my old computer.  Interesting with the LVLD, I just had the problem with the dreaded LVLD.DLL and panel initialization.  Not sure what caused it but I uninstalled and then reinstalled the FSUIPC and then installed the LVLD and everything is now back to normal.

The graphics may be outdated, but when it comes to systems the Level-D is still the best of the bunch. I can't speak for the CLS or CS one as I've never had either.

I have it merged with the SkySpirit freeware model. Works pretty good. Might not be the prettiest but functions well. You can always try the Level-D one as it falls under the 30 day refund policy that Flight1 have. If you don't like it get your money back.

No question.....Level-D.  Are the graphics a bit outdated?  Yes.  Could it use a facelift?  Yes.

However, John Tavendale is dead on....for systems, there is nothing better.  From a sim perspective, it's also a pilot's airplane.  It is VASTLY superior to the CS 767...I know, I have both.

Even though the Level D 767 is as old as FSX, it's by far the best option if you don't mind the outdated graphics. There has been a texture upgrade though, made by a gentleman called Andre Folker.

I used the CS 767 for a few months before buying the LDS, and I can say that as soon as I stepped out of my Level D 767, I sent the CS right to the Mojave boneyard!

Thanks,

Level D hands down. Sort of like the Leonardo Maddog, what's lacking in the graphics department is made up for in the systems depth.

As dated as they are, the graphics aren't terrible. There is a free VC enhancement available on their forums that improves it a bit.

I don't know the LevelD, but I own the CS since 3 years, and I'm happy with it.

I also own the CS 757 too, which is pretty similar and very nice too.

I particulary enjoy the cargo version of both 757 and 767, and the litte cargo animation from CS are funny, see (for the 727 here):

Hi Florian, do you have any problems with the top of descent bug?

Hi Florian, do you have any problems with the top of descent bug?

yes, sometimes the FMC doesn't calculate it.

but you when you enter a valid altitude on your last waypoint, which is your airport destnation, then the TOP is calculate.

There's a topic about that here:

FSX is a flight simulator, not a passenger or spotter or cargo loading simulator.

The majority of posters here are approving Captain Sim over Level-D? Are you all serious?
