American Airlines - The Talk of the Industry!

Featured Replies

Well, American Airlines have not thought this one through!

Look out for the cartoons in newspapers and magazines - but on the serious side AA are leaving themselves open to Class Action Suites as Duty of Care under international carriage of passengers will be enforced!

Wheel up landings are very uncomfortable as well!

FT. WORTH, TX—Explaining that the costs of the service have grown too high in recent years, American Airlines announced Tuesday that it will no longer offer free cabin pressurization to passengers starting March 15. “Unfortunately, to stay competitive as a legacy carrier in today’s air travel market, it no longer makes economic sense for us to provide breathable air at altitude,” said American Airlines CEO Doug Parker, noting that despite the cutbacks, air pressurization would still be available to first- and business-class travelers as well as those willing to pay an additional fee. “While we regret any altitude sickness, blood problems, dimmed vision, or hyperventilation that may result from air pressure less than a third normal levels, we remind our customers that such effects will diminish as soon as the aircraft descends below 10,000 feet.” Parker added that the company is also planning to discontinue complimentary landing gear on flights under four hours.

Obviously very much satire, but it fails with the "pressurization" gag. Either the interior is pressurized or it is not...

...that is unless someone has invented dynamic force fields while I was asleep last night!  :LMAO:

But, if they can find away to make a buck on it. They will!

In case of loss of cabin pressure, the oxygen masks will drop from above free of charge....to start the flow of oxygen, please insert $5

I'm Dyslexic, what's an error to you is not to me

In other news, American Airlines is instituting an additional, non-refundable $100 "Water Landing" fee to all ticket prices, in the event you need to use your seat bottom cushion as a flotation device.  :O

Sadly since Americans merge with U.S. Airways they have adopted U.s. Airways policy of eliminating the bereavement discount for people who have to fly for funerals or sickness. I understand the need to make a profit in business today. It just sucks when you have to mess with people in their time of need., and to be fair, its happening in all facets of business.

They looked at the pros and cons and realized it made sense to change the policy. Either way from what I have gathered many people don't use the special fare anymore.

Up yours AA, I can hold my breath for a very long time. I forget what Sci Fi / horror movie that line, "I can hold my breath for a very long time!", came from but it seemed to fit? Pay toilets? Pee on your seat and sue them a million for the humiliation it causes you. Pay to exit the toilet? Let the rest pee in their seats and sue, the Lavy is a nice cozy place any way, well sort of. Pay for cabin pressure? Hold your breath until you pass out and sue them for brain damage. One bad joke deserves another. If this were true, I wonder what they would do when you boarded with you own pressure suit on and a ample supply of oxygen and a port-a-potty? May the farce be with you!  :Big Grin:

I'm sorry but our company policy prohibits you from bringing your own oxygen supply on board.

Five years ago the rules were tough.  I needed to go to my parent(s) in Florida.  There was no notice I had to go (and no indications of any problems), essentially it was next flight out.  There was no special fare, send in the death cert after the fact and maybe you will get a discount.  We don't know how much you will get back and it will take weeks of processing.
