March 26, 201412 yr Rob, thx for taking the time to share with us! I am looking forward to 2.2! John.
March 26, 201412 yr I currently have and love X Plane 10, but see no reason why P3D 2.2 and XPX can't coexist. Yes they can, and they do on my system also. However, I did remove FSX ... with no ceremony either, not even a glass of wine.
March 26, 201412 yr I 'hate' watching YouTube videos of flight simulators, as I ALWAYS (without FAIL) try to hit "S" to change views or start panning with the hat switch only to remember it's a video and not actually the simulator. (That said, thanks for the videos - good sneak preview)
March 26, 201412 yr Thanks Rob for the testing. You know we mentioned 5 or 6 weeks ago that it would be nice if LM would let someone (with no dog in the hunt) help with the beta and I am glad you got to help and your explaination and video sure helps. Thanks for the report on 2.2. Regards, Lamar. Regards Lamar Wright
March 26, 201412 yr However, I did remove FSX ... with no ceremony either, not even a glass of wine. Love them and leave them eh Rob Have you played with the new cfg entries for configuring the new agn lod and distance system? it looks like there is more potential to get a good balance of visual v performance now. The results certainly look impressive so far.
March 26, 201412 yr Thanks again for keeping us in the loop Rob! Echoing other's sentiments, LM picked the right folks for the beta team
March 26, 201412 yr Awesome Video Rob, we do have the same number of add ons (approx), though not the same hardware. The question now is - When are they releasing it. I can't wait to get my hands on 2.2. Thanks for the testing How I Evaluate Third Party Sim Addon Developers Refined P3Dv5.0 HF2 Settings Part1 (has MaddogX) and older thread Part 2 (has PMDG 747)
March 26, 201412 yr Love them and leave them eh Rob I tried to keep the love going, return to her arms a few times, but the fat lady had sung her last tune ... all my GPU power sitting idle, she just didn't even wanna try anymore and without the surgeons to keep her looks going she just faded away ... a sad lonely way to go :( ... I kinda feel bad for her after all these years. Have you played with the new cfg entries for configuring the new agn lod and distance system? Not yet. LM would let someone (with no dog in the hunt) help with the beta Yeah, not even a Bark ... I think it's good to have multiple perspectives and reports from various POVs (not too many, but just enough). I'm glad LM contacted me and I hope my efforts help. Cheers, Rob. Awesome Video Rob, we do have the same number of add ons (approx), though not the same hardware. The question now is - When are they releasing it. I can't wait to get my hands on 2.2. Thanks for the testing I believe Wes said in a few weeks over on P3D forum ... he indicated to me end of this month or early next month, but that is hard to predict because if any significant issues come up in testing, that release could be delayed. And when things get delayed, customers have a tendency to start "LM is dead" threads ... which ironically is probably why I got the Ok to post information in the first place. So ya see, good comes out from the bad ... the perpetual optimist in me Cheers, Rob.

March 26, 201412 yr Just some quick info/video on 2.2 Beta 2. I've reported a few minor issues to Wes ... please note I don't call these bugs because they could be issues specific to my environment/PC (3rd party add-ons, video drivers, etc.). Howdy Rob! Another killer video - and nice job of showing off the latest beta of P3D v2! Very pretty, and makes me have sim envy for your setup! I am hugely missing Orbx (I live in X-Plane 10 now) - you did a great job on setting up your sim and the filming! Kudos! R. March 26, 201412 yr Hi Rob, Thanks for your post. As Simmerhead posted earlier...... "Any news on blurries and LC texture loading? Seems to be a problem among many in v2.1? " Could you mention this for us please? I understand what you're saying about the new i7 4960X but any help in this area without a lot more expense would be excellent. Thanks in anticipation
March 26, 201412 yr what is this? Its part of the new Autogen tree Level Of Detail rendering system that, that is responsible for lowering the memory footprint of the vegetation. There are two new lines in the cfg that allow you to configure the range of the LOD and vegetation distance. http://www.prepar3d.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/AutogenDevBlog.jpg
March 26, 201412 yr Hi Rob -- has the grainy textures (where shadows fall) with the latest nvidia drivers been fixed? Cheers. Soarbywire - Avionics Engineering
March 26, 201412 yr "Any news on blurries and LC texture loading? Seems to be a problem among many in v2.1? " Could you mention this for us please? I understand what you're saying about the new i7 4960X but any help in this area without a lot more expense would be excellent. Not sure what your expectations are here, I could induce blurries with FSX, P3D, XP10 -- just go fast and and turn up detail settings. I didn't have blurries in 2.1 + hotfix, nor in 2.0 ... but if you look closely at my video you can see some LC higher res textures are "catching up" here and there ... this is simply just not enough processing power to keep the data flowing at what I consider pretty extreme graphics settings ... I'm pushing the graphics settings on purpose to test out VAS. It's not a test to determine if my system can handle it. Some are seeing stutters in the YouTube video, so I've made the mp4 video file available on my Google driver here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0Bw0Q-fAfEZwyd2VfUEZqenpJelE/edit?usp=sharing - it's 781MB, it still VERY compressed compared to the FRAPS recording (about 20GB or so). But if you download the file and you still see stutters on playback, then I'm affraid you might have a problem with your environment (I know taboo to make such a suggestion, but don't shoot the messenger). The video looks very smooth on my system. Is you have any issues downloading it, let me know. Cheers, Rob.
March 26, 201412 yr Rob, thanks for taking the time to do this! Kindly, can you take the f22 out for a spin for us "big grin" please? :- )
