April 16, 201412 yr Dear P3D experts, Can anyone tell me if I can choose different speakers for outside noise and the atc in Prepar3D v2 ?! I hope ypu van help me. Thnaks in advance :-) Your FSlikerX Thnaks in advance :-) I`m sorry I can`t write, ofcause it should meen ThANks in advance :-)
April 16, 201412 yr No they won't. Cards need to be same architecture, that is identical. Clock frequencies and board layout can be different, in most cases also the VRAM, but you can't SLI something like GTX260 and GTX780. GTX780 and GTX780Ti won't work together either. If I remember correctly, only bigger exception back in the day was SLIing GTX260 with 192sp and newer one with 216sp and they would work, but only 192 shader cores were utilized with the 216sp card. You can have two 780's from different manufacturers, but the amount of ram needs to be the same. The clock speeds can be different as the faster one will clock down to match the slower one. Here is a great video on SLI: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cxc6cb3_y0w Scott KGPI
April 16, 201412 yr It works acceptable when I set cloudshadows to 10.000 meters but it does not look as good as it did in 2.1. Cloud shadows aren't available in 2.1? That's really weird. What is your cloud shadow draw distance set to? 30,000
April 16, 201412 yr Author 30,000 Can you try with the highest value and see if there is any change in the vegetation shadows? If not, then I guess it's only a problem for mh384. You should post that comparison in that thread in the Prepar3D forum.

April 16, 201412 yr Cloud shadows aren't available in 2.1? I meant the vegetation shadows doesn't look as good in 2.2 as they did in 2.1. They looked very nice all the way to the horizon with no shimmering and flickering in 2.1. What drivers are you using Rob?
April 16, 201412 yr Vegetation shadows look pretty good to me? The only reason I typically don't turn ON Vegetation shadows is because the photo real images of the terrain will already have tree shadows as part of the source image ... so to avoid seeing two shadows (one calculated and one fixed) I turn off Vegetation shadows. I'm using 335.23. Have you tried adjusting these settings per Beau (LM): Prepar3d.cfg: SHADOW_LOG_PARTITION_LOW=0.850000 SHADOW_LOG_PARTITION_MID=0.850000 SHADOW_LOG_PARTITION_HIGH=0.850000 SHADOW_LOG_PARTITION_ULTRA=0.850000 Cheers, Rob. FYI, with Vegetation = Extreme, enabling vegetation cloud shadows cuts my FPS in 1/2 (from 60 down to 30 fps).
April 16, 201412 yr I guess this is one of those threads that ramble all over the place. Open discussion around all issues pertaining to "Prepar3D 2.2 Released!" right? Anyway about the cost of used GTX 780 compared the retail price. Granted the Retail price right now might be crazy but when the gamers trying to off load them for God only knows what reason are looking for basically the same they are true dumb as posts. Lucky for us that Flight Sim is not a game right! . anyway the reason this post is that an opportunity has come up for me today to pick up 2 EVGA Nvidia GTX-780 TI Superclocked that are 3 months olds with receipt for $1200. Now I think that this is a good deal and have already told the seller we are on. So I have added 2 conditions and they are that the warrantee must be transferable or they are not yet registered and it not to late to register them in my name. Total cost to me is 1200 minus the $250 that I got for selling a useless piece of junk in my house. (one mans junk is another man treasure  ) and my wife says that I am allowed to do whatever I like with that out of nowhere money  . Score! so that's $950. Then there is the $550 that I am going to ask my for used Gigabyte 780 that I paid about $550 for 6 months ago. Hey that's what everyone else is doing. Right? That's $400 for an upgrade from one bog standard GTX 780 to two GTX 780 Ti's superclocked Is that a good deal? You guys tell me!

April 17, 201412 yr I meant the vegetation shadows doesn't look as good in 2.2 as they did in 2.1. They looked very nice all the way to the horizon with no shimmering and flickering in 2.1. What drivers are you using Rob? This has been covered. The cloud shadow mapping is shared with the vegetation (and others I suspect) so the more cloud shadows you have the less defined vegetation shadows will be. Turn off cloud shadows and you should see vegetation shadows returning to what they were in v2.1. It seems in the flightsim world there is always a trade off.

But Rob's screenshots prove the exact opposite; vegetation shadows remain crisp as he turns on cloud shadows. This needs to be investigated further.
April 17, 201412 yr But Rob's screenshots prove the exact opposite; vegetation shadows remain crisp as he turns on cloud shadows. This needs to be investigated further. Well that is what was mentioned on the official forums, but I can't remember now if it was an LM staff member. I know for sure that one user confirmed it was cloud shadows, but distance had an effect. 10,000m and it still looks good, but stretch the cloud shadows out to 60,000m (which in turn stretches the shadow map) and the vegetation shadows no longer look crisp.

April 17, 201412 yr Just wanted to run this by the pros to see if this would work. Currently I have a 750 watt PSU (EVGA) bronze rated and a single EVGA GTX 780 superclocked. If I want to pick up say... another GTX 780 superclocked for a future SLI setup, do I have to get the exact model I already have? I ask because EVGA has like 8 different superclocked models... it seems I should be fine as long as I get a GTX 780... but was not sure if the clock speed, etc. makes a difference. Also, think I already read this... but want to make sure I can disable SLI fairly easily if I need to. There is a new one for sale right now for $499, which seems to be a decent price. Thanks! I haven't gone beyond 30,000m ... guess I could test higher tonight. but want to make sure I can disable SLI fairly easily if I need to. Yes, it's easy to disable SLI ... can setup a profile to do it (native or inspector).
