April 24, 201412 yr I think Hawaii is waaaayyy better. Kid lucked out! I guess the poor parents will have to pay for the plane trip back... I wonder if the airline will want something for the trip over? Before you laugh at that idea, consider that companies are generally greed filled, soulless monsters. mine would charge With their ground crew's failure at pre-flight inspection I expect they will in the future need to have even more greed in order to recover from the negligence claim they will have to make settlement for in this case. he might of got in after the walkaround ??
April 24, 201412 yr I think it is just a function of where Hawaiian parks there. Far end of terminal next to the fence. scott s. . Yeah, I think that was his selection criteria for this plane. But, doesn't the plane say "Hawaiian Airlines" on it? Can he not read (which wouldn't surprise me either) or did he think he'd find a plane from Air Somalia sitting there?
April 24, 201412 yr on a slight tangent but we a funny incident yesterday..... Women goes through security at gatwick and the wife takes off her diamond ring and her watch and puts it through the xray machine in the box, some thieving sod sees it go through the machine and pinches it from the box the other side of the machine as she’s getting patted down and heads for his flight to Rome, the women goes to get her things from the box and sees the ring and watch is missing, she complains and tells the cops, and they pull the CCTV quickly in the security area and see the guy pinching it before heading for his flight. We called to have the cops meet the guy in Rome to arrest him when he landed, and sent an acars to the operating captain to tell him the situation, On arrival into Rome the skipper goes into the cabin and refuses the passenger to get off and has a "polite but stern word" with the passsnger... Police where not needed in the end, the passenger gave to the ring and watch to the captain who gave it back to the passenger. The passenger will now have to have a chat with the UK police on arrival back in Gatwick.... Oh and the passenger..... he was a kid... 15 years old.... kids nowadays.....
April 24, 201412 yr he might of got in after the walkaround ?? There would have been crew and ground crew all over the place at that time. Reports say he climbed in some 6 hours before the flight. Still hard to imagine as combined with flight time that would calculate to around 11 hours in the wheel well. There were some photos floating around a day or two ago purportedly showing his footprints on the tire and in the wheel well. April 24, 201412 yr I'm more interested in seeing how he didn't manage to fall out when the landing gear was lowered for landing, since he was unconscious at that time. He probably lost bladder control when he passed out, and ended up with his butt frozen to the shelf in the upper part of the gear bay where he was sitting. He could have climbed in 6 hours before, 8 hours before, 12 days before, the crew on the ground/captains walkover would have spotted that. If they didn't that's some seriously worrying inspection. April 25, 201412 yr Almost impossible. He could have climbed in 6 hours before, That is what has been widely reported. the crew on the ground/captains walkover would have spotted that. If they didn't that's some seriously worrying inspection. And THAT is precisely the big issue here! I for one cannot fathom that the 15 year old wandered around on the tarmac until after the pre-flight inspections and only then climbed into the wheel well. Way too many authorized workers around. They would not have all have ignored him or failed to notice him as an unauthorized person in the area. The workers participate in shift work and they know each other quite well. The 15 year old lad would have stood out "like a sore thumb". He clearly would have to have concealed himself before the area became populated with workers. Now. Did he ride out his stowaway flight in the wheel well, or somewhere else? That may be the question. i.e. who pre-flights the cargo area? Yes. I have seen the photos of footprints in the wheel well and on a tire. But when were those footprints left? April 27, 201412 yr Just a simple question, but a run away from US to US? I would imagine, you would run away to another country as if you don't feel at home, or hated where you're situated. It's amazing he survived and I hope health gets better. I'm not a teenager anymore, but I considered very very long time ago running away as a stowaway, but again, I had no idea whether the plane was going to land in Leningrad or east Berlin, or Switzerland, and it's way too risky both healthycally and if getting caught. Friends, did not know either. Even if you survive, landing in the wrong airport... oh well... This guy was lucky he didnt land in Pyongyang or somewhere in China! Which wonders me, how do these stowaways really know where their plane is heading.
