July 1, 201411 yr The MSE version is half the size of the Horizon version. There is a reason for that..... Christopher Low AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D CPU / 64GB DDR5-6000 RAM / 12GB Nvidia RTX 4070 Super GPU / Gigabyte X870E Aorus Elite Wifi 7 / 1+2TB Samsung Evo Plus M2 Nvme UK2000 Beta Tester
July 1, 201411 yr Hi there 777, even though I had a rant above, if you can get it at a discount price then its worth it for the new stuff that's on it and of course the space saving. ginger

Was talking about the MSE version, but just seen the ES thread and the AutoGenesis, looking tasty so will pass for now and wait patiently for the UK to be released ☺ MSI Codex 5 10SC-262UK Desktop PC - Intel Core i7-10700, RTX 2060 Graphics, 16GB RAM, 2TB HDD, 256GB SSD.
July 2, 201411 yr Could someone with the new MSE England & Wales be so kind as to post a few shots of the area around and to the west of Manston EGMH? Thanks! Hello, Check the sreenshots forum! My gallery: http://s1075.photobucket.com/albums/w430/yankeegolf/
July 6, 201411 yr To my mind washed out colours are a *good* thing for realism - if I have a criticism about Horizon GenX it would that the colours can seem way too oversaturated during the middle of the day. When I look out of the window I see colours that are always washed out by atmospheric haze/cloud/fog etc. But that's just me, I am aware that some people like the overdone HDR type colours. I am glad that the product suits your needs. I have enjoyed a few more flights since my last post. I should clarify my point. I have MSE Washington and Oregon. These are very green states. I have never been to England but I was under the impression that it gets a lot of rain and I would have thought that MSE England would have a brighter green like some of the other MSE products. I realize that this is all subjective. Despite this, I am very happy to have spent $30 and received the entire country. Mike Keigley
July 10, 201411 yr My main gripe with the Horizon/Playsims product is this: That awful colouration that seems to tarnish great swathes of my East Anglian homeland. If the M.S.E version doesn't suffer from those garish hues, then for me, it'll be worth the purchase just for that! I'm guessing that I can still use the Horizon mesh and Vectors with the M.S.E England and Wales package, which will go a long way in eliminating the coastal issues noted by many users?
July 10, 201411 yr The more I use the MSE version, the more truly UNsatisfied I am with it. Even with the Horizon colouring, I may go back to it. Why? Most of my flying is done around coastlines, and the MSE coastlines are, IMO, really, really bad. I'm that technical, but asume this to be as a result of no or poor water masking? July 14, 201411 yr I'm still tempted to buy it, just to keep all my photo scenery 'in house' so to speak. I like the fact that MSE bunches everything into one simple folder, such as 'Belgium', which I guess you could do with the Horizon England/Wales if you knew what you was doing (I probably don't). Any chance of a screenshot to show just how bad these MSE England/Wales coastal areas actually are?
November 27, 201411 yr Although Darren is using new data for England you can bet it'll be well out of date before the whole of the country is released. I personally love Horizon Scotland just so long as you stay away from the Glasgow area. Edinburgh is incredibly detailed along with the surrounding area. My main gripe with the Horizon/Playsims product is this: That awful colouration that seems to tarnish great swathes of my East Anglian homeland. And this is a quick fix by altering your monitor colour settings. Keith Sandford.
March 6, 201511 yr I know this is an old thread , but rather than creating a new one on the topic and creating another large debate, I will just say my piece. Mega Scenery is a love -hate relationship for me. I have purchased many states and some are rather good while others have many issues going on. I just purchased and downloaded the State of PA. I took off from Philly and there were many problems with shading and blurry images. The darker areas were okay but the next joining area was 5 times lighter in shading and looked like it came out of an old blurry photo. On the other hand KS and MO are just fine all the way through with great color and sharpness even at lower altitudes I have not purchased any megascenery for the Rocky Mountains or the West Coast as I rely on Blue Sky Scenery for this region. What I find interesting is Blue Sky is far more consistent and it's free. The colors are striking and once I am 500 feet up, the images focus in. The water of the Great Salt Lake is breathtaking! The Southern Rockies have all the colors I remember seeing in real life. Don't get me wrong, I will continue buying Megascenery based on my budget and I would rather fly over real scenery than not. I just wish that companies that charge you for the product would put in the effort that Blue Sky has done. For some it is a labor of love while for others it is a way to put bread on the table. Let us not forget those who post free megascenery either. People who would rather steal it than buy it and who post how you can steal it too are also at fault here . Lost sales create situations of compromise for both the manufacturer and the buyer.
March 6, 201511 yr Wow! An old thread indeed. Spookily enough though, a relevant one for me, as I just reinstalled my MSE England. A good friend of mine once gave me his definition of insanity.... "to keep making the same mistakes, over and over, while expecting the results to change";-) Mmmm.... where does that put me I wonder, having once again reinstalled this, in the hope that THIS time, it might be different? IMO, and this might sound a little strong, but like I said IMO, this was a complete waste of money! In almost 20 years simming, and probably thousands of £'s spent in software, I've only ever said that that about one other payware addon, but we wont go there;-) Windows 10 (x64) - X-Plane 11 - M/B: Asus ROG Maximus IX Hero - CPU: i7 7700k (@5.0GHz) - RAM: 32Gb Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 @ 3200MHz - Video: GTX1080ti - Cooling: Custom water loop (EK 140 Revo D5 pump/res combo, EK EVO CPU block, EK XE360 Rad)
