January 9, 201511 yr Pete Ok so I'm now at home. I used the link you gave me, but i'm not really sure what you mean by click on the last page number. Why isn't there a simple response box like I'm using now on this site? I can't use the REX forums to ask for help because I can't gain access??!! I must be so stupid! I can see a box that says "You cannot reply to this topic". Is that a clue? Pete

January 9, 201511 yr Near LOWI. ASN+Soft clouds. Very very happy with soft clouds. I was really negative about REX Soft Clouds in the beginning. But all the extremely positive feedback really got me on the fence over buying them. Screenies and videos look really awesome... January 13, 201511 yr Can't get REX Soft Clouds to load textures. When I attempt to load textures the program stops working (get the windows message window indicating such). I posted to REX Soft Clouds forum yesterday, checked by today and the post is gone. Matter of fact all posts after 1 Jan are gone. I reposted the issue today. Hope to get a response soon. Using Windows 7 and P3DV2.4 Regards, Danny
January 13, 201511 yr here's a couple overcast shots i got tonight while practicing at Kai Tek rain and clouds around 5000 good stuff JHo Jaime Horton
January 13, 201511 yr I bought REX soft clouds recently, and I've been having trouble finding the right texture set for a realistic layer of fog. Normally fog is only 100-500 feet thick, and every time I try to set a thin stratus layer in P3D v2.4 with soft clouds, I get these thin "slices" of cloud that look very unrealistic. They look broken even if I set them to Overcast in ASN. I can clearly see blue sky between them. I haven't yet been able to replicate a thin overcast stratus layer with REX and ASN. I've noticed that some people have taken some nice screenshots depicting realistic fog with REX soft clouds, which is one of the main reasons I bought it. So I guess my question is: How would I go about replicating the fog seen in those screenshots? Thanks Gabriel - CYVR
January 14, 201511 yr I see Froogle uses REX Soft Clouds in his first impressions of the Just Flight Canberra. Interesting to note the vertical cloud issue off to the left at about 11:18. gb. YSSY. January 14, 201511 yr Interesting to not the vertical cloud issue off to the left at about 11:18. Yup, that's exactly what's been happening to me. As I'm about to fly through a deck of cloud, some of them magically spin away vertically and disappear, making the cloud layer thinner. It's making it impossible to create a thin layer of cloud. January 14, 201511 yr There is a fix for the vertical clouds on the prepar3d website.it's a new shader file.might help here's a link http://www.prepar3d....-issues-in-2-4/ steve REX SKYFORCE 3D steve howlett
January 22, 201511 yr First time in a demo video Ive ever seen the plane and planet stand still and the clouds move. Just saying ..... For me this plane is flying backwards ))))) If you are still on the fence about REX Soft Clouds here's my no holds barred review. Epic clouds. Nice. Looks like more randomized overcast effect then previous REX texture direct. How it is with scaterred clouds? Are they low resolution or high resolution? Or "Soft clouds" can only be used as better alternative to overcast? I really like them but I'm hoping there's a way to integrate the sharper clouds into the mix. Clouds are never that "soft" all the time. I think of summers in Southern California where there is a bright blue sky with huge white cumulus clouds that have a dramatic sharp edge and you can see the billowing folds moving. The TD clouds do this when necessary but the softs do not. Other than that, they really are stunning! Vic I am thinking to use both REX4 TD when I want to have sky with clear cumulus , and Soft clouds when i want broken overcast.

What ever weather your engine cooks up, all the low level clouds will be down by Soft Clouds. The really high up stuff will be handled by whatever program you have doing high clouds. It does great with all weather types.
