January 26, 201511 yr Good Morning, Julian. Thanks for the endorsement. Great ODI win for your Black Caps to follow the Test series win. Quite a year to date for them. Wins against some of the 'big guns'. EDIT Spoke far too soon. With just less than an hour to landing on a 7 hour flight, I got the dreaded terrain.dll CTD. Great! Rick Almeida

Did you see Pete Dowson's Test Fix for that? Check out this post. Sorry didn't read all of the link, guess you do know, good luck than. Ric Elmore
January 27, 201511 yr Commercial Member Did you see Pete Dowson's Test Fix for that? Check out this post. Unfortunately it doesn't work. The corrupted data is spread too far. [LATER] Sorry, I should revise that statement: When I say the fix doesn't work, I'm about 50:50 on that. I won't actually know that it does work until someone completes a successful crashless flight, closes FSX-SE, then checks his FSUIPC4.LOG file and finds reports of TERRAIN crashes trapped -- and then tells me! ;-) Unfortunately there's no way to prove it does NOT work except after an infinite time there are no such reports ever seen in the LOG file. Terrain DLL crashes at other locations may or may not be related to the patched one, I don't see any way of determining that. So I think all in all it is worth persisting with the patch code enable Pete Win10: 22H2 19045.2728 CPU: 9900KS at 5.5GHz Memory: 32Gb at 3800 MHz. January 27, 201511 yr Moderator All addon scenery is compatible with the fixer Ray. I have all the Aerosoft airports and hundreds others, and no issues at all. DX10 fixer breathes new life into fsx, and with SE, it is even better. If the airports did not work, I would be using DX9. FSX aircraft including AI work too. Hi Julian, In that case I'm wondering why more people don't make the switch. Is there a downside to it? Can FSX still run in windowed mode? Ray (Cheshire, England). January 27, 201511 yr How do I do that, please? Back up dll.xml and exe.xml and fsx.cfg. Go into your stem app and go to view....game details.......right click fsx....properties....... click tab Local Files...select Verify integrity of game cache....put kettle on Thanks Julian. I'll take a look. If you can't find the how to doc, just pm me Ray System: MSFS2024, ASUS Rog Stryx Z790-A, Intel i9-14900KF, Asus ROG Ryujin III 360 , Asus Hyperion Case,Rog Stryx 4090 OC, Samsung 970 EVO M.2 SSD, 1Tb Samsung 860 EVO SSD,64Gb G Skill Memory, Asus Aura 1200W Gold PSU,Win 11 ,LG C4 48" 4K OLED Screen., Airbus TCA Full Kit, Stream Deck XL. January 27, 201511 yr Thanks, Pete. Makes a heap of sense. So, fingers crossed that one of sterling community here successfully completes a CTD-free flight AND Updates you. Rick Almeida
January 27, 201511 yr No downside Ray, and I am a fussy simmer. Works in window mode, and there is a "How To Doc" to help you set it up I stayed wtih DX9 so I could fly with ENB. January 27, 201511 yr fsx.cfg Hi Julian Hope it's not too late to reach you. Which FSX.cfg? The FSX-MS fsx.cfg or the FSX-SE fsx.cfg? I had it there in the Steam folder yesterday but deleted it as per another thread in the Steam Forums, re-started FSX-SE but have not seen the FSX-SE fsx.cfg back again. Rick Almeida
January 27, 201511 yr Moderator If you can't find the how to doc, just pm me Ray Thanks Julian. Seems it's not currently for sale. The author did say not to worry so I'm guessing he's on a holiday. I stayed wtih DX9 so I could fly with ENB. ENB doesn't support DX10. I've mislaid my 3 letter synonym dictionary so could you please expand on ENB. Ray (Cheshire, England). January 27, 201511 yr I've mislaid my 3 letter synonym dictionary so could you please expand on ENB. ENB Series. It does antialiasing and lighting affects that people use to enhance games. First time I saw it, it was recommended by FlightBeam. Orbx uses it a lot and they have custom profiles. Tons of settings out there to enhance FSX. Not trying to disuade people from going to DX10, though. Just for me, the antialiasing in DX9 makes it not worth moving for me. EDIT: Here's a video that shows it. There are tons of these profiles out there...people mod it for how they want their world to look. SweetFX does some of this stuff too but the antialiasing, so far, hasn't been as good to me.
