Anyone try My Traffic 6 yet?

Featured Replies

 For those that have used AIFP before, it's pretty simple. Decompile the MyTrafficCommercial.bgl and then add the new Emirates plans based on their schedule and recompile it. All the basics with using AIFP.

 One thing I found interesting as I've mentioned the realism in the plans included was that I found a Westjet B737-800 scheduled daily from St. Johns, NFLD to Paris Orly, then to Cardiff. I didn't bother to try and find a second duplicate aircraft doing the return. Out of curiosity I then counted the number of Westjet aircraft used and it was slightly over double what they operate in real life.. I can only wonder how many more oddball routes the airlines are running in this package.

I have v5.4c and do see the proper WestJet route from Hamilton---Moncton twice a day. I followed one out (see my screen grab FS9-Hamilton to Moncton morning flight about on page three now of forum) for I was piloting the back WestJet, and was totally surprised to see the 'real flight' waiting to station upon the runway in our line-up right ahead of me.  What a hoot!

Dave,

I managed to work out that you weren't using Burkhard's supplied editor but a freeware one - AI Flight Planner.

Having installed that and pointed it to mytrafficcommercial.bgl in the MyTraffic folder it does decompile the bgl but then stops with the following error:-

Invalid / Unusable SimObjects entry in FSX.cfg.

I can only assume it doesn't like an entry with quotes.

Mine (like everyone else's) is c:\MyTraffic Professional\MyTraffic\Aircraft

How did you overcome that problem?

Dave,

I found someone else with the same problem on the AIFP forum and the advice was to disable that SimConnect entry. I did that and tried again and the error didn't show.

But virtually all the entries in the Aircraft List are red making them unusable. I'm guessing because AIFP can't read a path that has spaces with quotes in it.

Awaiting your help.

Interesting, I didn't have that issue at all. As you have traffic in the sim, it shows that your SimObjects entry is correct. Are you able to simply skip it or acknowledge the error and continue on?

 Even though the aircraft show up as red just means that AIFP can't see them. As long as you can assign them still which shouldn't be a problem it will work in your sim.

You want to make a backup of course of the Mytrafficcommercial.bgl just in case something does go wrong, but it should work fine. By recompiling the traffic file it simply looks for the aircraft with the same title from your MyTraffic aircraft.

The entry in fsx.cfg that it didn't like was:-

SimObjectPaths.6="C:\MyTraffic Professional\MyTraffic\Aircraft"

What's yours?

I was intending to output to a completely different bgl leaving the original alone. But I really don't want to proceed until that folder can be read by the program.

I have registered and am awaiting confirmation I can post messages. Someone else had the same problem and the advice was to disable that entry. That sorted the problem for the poster as he was using a different Ai package.

But I really need AIFP to see that folder. I'll post there when I'm able but in the meantime if you could post step by step instructions here on how you created a new flight plan and modified an existing one to change the aircraft it would be very helpful.

My only concern about editing the bgl direct is that it will be out of sync with Burkhard's database.

The entry in fsx.cfg that it didn't like was:-

SimObjectPaths.6="C:\MyTraffic Professional\MyTraffic\Aircraft"

Try removing the quotation marks..  SimObjectPaths.6=C:\MyTraffic Professional\MyTraffic\Aircraft

and see if that helps

The quotes are needed by FSX. Please tell me what your entry is.

There aren't any quotes on the other SimObject entries, they aren't needed.

Mine looks like this  SimObjectPaths.6=E:\MyTraffic Professional\MyTraffic\Aircraft

Dave,

It's a rule in Windows that any path that contains a space must have the path enclosed with quotation marks to make it readable.

All the other entries don't have any spaces in their path. That's why they don't need quotation marks.

SimObjectPaths.0=SimObjects\Airplanes
SimObjectPaths.1=SimObjects\Rotorcraft
SimObjectPaths.2=SimObjects\GroundVehicles
SimObjectPaths.3=SimObjects\Boats
SimObjectPaths.4=SimObjects\Animals
SimObjectPaths.5=SimObjects\Misc
SimObjectPaths.6="C:\MyTraffic Professional\MyTraffic\Aircraft"

I fail to understand how FSX can process that entry without quotes around the path.

Hi Ray, I'm not sure either. I've always done it that way in FSX and P3d in both the main cfg and the scenery.cfg's without issue for many years.

Dave,

Out of curiosity I left the quotes out in that entry and fired up FSX. Using Super Traffic Board I counted the number of aircraft at EGCC. 40 on the ground.

I then exited FSX and put the quotes back. Loaded it again and still 40 aircraft.

Weird. But without the quotes AIFP loads the BGL and shows all the Aircraft.

I now have a decompiled bgl which I can work with. I'll try to follow your instructions and hopefully won't mess up.

Thanks once again.

You see if you all had ut2 and imported the ai schedules from ai alpha group you'd all be happy!!

Life is too short to mess around bringing abandoned software like UT2 up to date

I only want the correct liveries at the gates with the minimum of effort, rather be flying my Sim than playing around with flightplans and liveries.
