Someone else basically said to just throw $20 at the developer and forget about it. Has it really come down to that? Really?

I sincerely hope not. That is an introductory price I suspect to placate v5 users who have not been offered an upgrade discount.

 

There are already some negative reviews regarding this addon, and that's set off some alarm bells.

I posted probably the most damning report but I have received help from Burkhard and that help is ongoing on his forum. My comments on the quality of the help documentation still stands as does criticism of the editor interface. I hope these will be looked at and corrected.

 

I don't criticise software for the heck of it but only when I feel some shortcuts have been made which takes the shine off an otherwise good program.

The first time i added the line into Scenery.cfg it just didn't take needed to be added again.

 

I had this problem as well.  As noted in the MT6 thread in the P3D forum, I've been using MyTraffic for years through many versions and still found the installation instructions hard to work with.

 

EDIT: need to add that installation issue aside, I'm as happy with the program as I've always been (very happy).  Yes, the models could be better but at a cost to performance, and I don't spend a lot of time plane-spotting at the airports so to me the model quality isn't an issue (understand that it might be others).  The addition of military AI is a wonderful plus for a Washington DC-area resident who needs that for realism in local skies, and who isn't up for hand-installing freeware.  In all, for me, a very good solution.

My point is that since the very earliest versions of Mytraffic Burkhard has worked to provide in my opinion the best allround Ai package. and over the years many of us have been very happy with the product and also with the exemplary support he has provided over all those years.

Either be content that other folks opinion can make your mind up for you or buy it and find out for yourself.

If you are happy with freeware that's fine but I do not have time to be installing multiple aircraft packs and be constantly updating flightplans and afcads, its a Flightsim not an Ai sim. and I am happy to support developers that provide great support year on year, Burkhard does just that.

i could care less if the planes are on schedule as long as the planes show up, i did a flight from a payware airport in st petersburg russia, to korea about 9 hours in the pmdg 777-200 with my traffic at 50% on airline and ga traffic and medium airport settings.i am using a gtx 970 with a 4790k at 4.6 ghz and 24 gigs of ram at 2133, and 4 ssd drives on windows 10.i had traffic everywhere and still had 800mb of vas left on landing.people should keep an eye out for orbx ftx trees at it is promised to give you up to a 20% performance increase in p3d and fsx and much better looking trees.i simply followed the directions for p3d 2.5, disabled default traffic and never fall under 35fps on the ground and near 120fps at 38000 feet,my p3d sliders are at very dense, asn running with cloud layers at 7 and networked efb to my dual core laptop which also runs windows 10.if you read the instructions, you shouldn't have an issue,i give the my traffic 6 developer an A+ over the old version.my textures are at 1024,for 18 bucks you can't go wrong.

Glynn, I respect your opinion and I have nothing against Burkhard personally, I'm just saying that the attitude of 'ohh, he's just one guy give him a break' is the wrong attitude to take and leads us all down a slippery path.

Again, I'm sure he's a great guy, but if you're having to rely on support from a developer 'year on year' then what does that say about the product? As for the freeware thing, if someone downloaded all of these packs and personally handed the relevant files to you on a DVD, would you try it?

...and that Burkhard is one incredibly generous man (how many updates were FREE!!!) who has put a lot...no..GOBS of time into this project. I don't know why some are having so many problems. You have to do one manual drop-down menu .cfg user-action,...and you are away to the races...same as 5.4c

Given the activity in PMDG's forums, their add-ons must be really bad, by your logic.

I never would have put a quality addon together with requiring years of customer support. Learning something new here myself.

 

Though, I did like the comparison between deeply complex aircraft and an AI addon though. Well done.

When we say support I guess we mean a developer standing behind his product over many years.

For myself I have never needed any support from Burkhard, Personally I was never challenged by having to edit a couple of cfg files to get it working but I know that others have found value in his unstinting support.

 

You seem very set against Mytraffic for whatever reason, that's fine, I have no idea why but we are all different.

I will say this, If you respect my opinion as you state then I will do this:

Buy the product at its sale price, If you feel that it is as bad as the negative reviews you have read here then I will personally refund you via paypal. At least then you will be in a position to offer your opinion on Burkhards from a position of personal knowledge.

Installed MT6 and all went smoothly. Turned traffic up to 35% at major airports and frames dropped by 5 or 6. No problems. Then Turned traffic sliders to 0 because I use VOXATC, exited P3dv2.3 and ran the VOX indexer to bring the MT traffic on board. Opened pP3d, loaded a flight plan and fired up VOX. Got VOX fatal errors at all airports. Closed P3d and reinstalled VOX and set it up. Major headaches. VOX panel installation and other functions in VOX inop. Uninstalled VOX, uninstalled MT6 and deleted all MT6 files. Restarted computer, reinstalled VOX and same problems. No panel installation, no flight plan trainer, and other features inop. Uninstalled VOX again and reinstalled MT6. Really like the AI traffic, so debating whether to try another traffic program or do a recovery to before MT6 was first installed.

Glynn, I'm really not against it. I look forward to every addon release and this one is no different. I just objected to the notion that developers should be forgiven for poor aspects of a product based on how many of them there are. If I came across a bit brash then I apologize.

 

Also, thanks for the offer. It's not neccessary as by the time I buy an addon, I'm already convinced that it's really worth it. I'll wait until the dust settles a bit and see what the situation is like with the addon before the sale is over. I'm not ruling anything out!

A day of solid flying in the northeast and mt v6 is really growing on me. Finally, an AN-124 crossed my path and landed at KPHL, and parked in the correct space next to Atlantic aviation!! My frame rate loss has been negligible after some more tweaks, and am getting approx 25 fps above KJFK with traffic set to 50%, in the realair tduke v2. I have not seen any deal breakers in the program all day. PS, has anyone else noticed the fireworks above the statue of livery??

Purchased it impulsively today.  What can I say? My Traffic has been a solid traffic program for years. This is the more refined, newer schedule overhaul.  It's a decent price for now so I can't complain!

Same problems here. VOX panel select crashes every time now, can't even assign it to an aircraft. Completely dead in the water. It was working ok and the only thing I've done in the last 48hrs to P3D is install MT6. Hmmmm. Would love to use both together, but as they say...if it looks like a duck....

So total noob here, never tried any of these, but I see a lot of people really enthusiastic about this..

 

Is it because it is the best option, or because you simply have a previous version?

 

This is -in a nutshell- replacing the default AI aircraft and injecting real world schedules/routes AI trafic with models and real world liveries, right?

 

If so, I have seen several packages that do the same. Which is the best or pros/cons of each? (Without starting a war, please! )
