Good old FS9

Recommended Posts

I'd hold off on Flight Envorenment.

After all the "customizing", I actually just went back to Flight Environment and was greatly pleased with the results.  Frames are higher with "clouds" and found a cloud set with hazy horizons .... perfect when used with Soft Horizons.  Don't give up on the old lady yet.  It is the most customizable and pleasing I've "rediscovered".

Have a look at HDE - High Definition Environment, v2.0 at our very own library

hdev2.zip

File Description:
Photorealistic texture pack that will change the aspect of your Clouds (cumulus, stratus, cirrus), sky color, aircraft reflections and ground detail.

What's new in V2.0? - New and better photorealistic cumulus, better sky colors, some new cirrus, ENBseries.ini (Bloom effect with great performance). HDE v2 is compatible with your favorite weather engine and environment software.

Wobbie thanks for those link. Some good stuff there! I have a question, some of those links are for new sky textures and water effects, are those better than REX textures or Zinertek's Ultimate water??

(I have REX ultimate water now)

Vive la difference!  For that's all it is ... different.

May I (rather impolitely) suggest friends you stop chasing your tails and get on with arriving at Paro after a greaser.  Or achieve your instrument rating.  Or ... plenty of things to do instead of worrying whether this texture is more accurate than that one ... and so forth.

Sorry, logic and common sense is not honored here ...... now ..... back to our regularly-scheduled program .......

I've spent the last few weeks tinkering and tinkering and fussing and mussing with FSX-SE and it's such a relief to get back to FS9, it just works! With FE and GEPro and FSWXPro and some good third party aircraft it's still a good sim.

I think we tend to forget that both FS9 and FSX are old programs now and that there was only a couple of year gap between them, I've never been that convinced by the idea that FSX was a great leap forward, and it's always been a bugger to get to work smoothly and consistently.

Welcome back to you, Revporl. Your verdict chimes with mine on FSX, and confirms my suspicion that FSX-SE is just lipstick on a pig!

What on earth is VAS and why on earth should FS9'ers worry about it? We're too busy flying!

Ask and you shall receive:

Wikipedia: Vas was an alternative world musical group composed of Persian vocalist Azam Ali and American percussionist Greg Ellis. Vas is frequently compared to the Australian band Dead Can Dance

Merriam‑Webster: Define vas: an anatomical vessel : duct

You are correct A32xx ... as a FS2004 user who is a senior citizen, I have not been worried about either for several years!

You shouldn't. You can also go back to watch your good ol' black and white TVs too...

I forget progress and change scares some folks...
