I think my investment in ORBX will pay off once OpenLC NA gets released. I wish they'd hurry the hell up though. 

Personally...I'm glad this came out...for it will surely cause a fire to light under ORBX's  a**, regarding OpenLC NA.  Same for Vector 1.25....it's like Vector upgrades DIED on the table....

The only way I make the move to GEX is if I get tired of WAITING on ORBX... However if/once I make the move that's it, I won't be back... Getting a little tired of waiting on land class, how long has it been?... Is it on a back burner somewhere, guess ORBX figures we are locked in and can make us wait... Understand your frustrations... but switching to GEX because ORBX is slow with land class accomplishes nothing.  GEX is textures ONLY.  Land class comes from UTX v2 which I have purchased and LOVE !! :wub:

Yes, I know it will be a $160.00 investment, GEX/UTX. But, if ORBX thinks I'm going to sit around waiting while other ORBX products are being released, keeping us on the back burner because they think we are locked in, they are in for a rude awakening. Going to GE/UTX "WILL" accomplish something, it will give notice to developers that keeping us on the hook for extended periods of time will cost you customers/cash flow.

 

If ORBX OPENLC is not ready by the time my FDS flight deck is ready, I'm moving to GEX/UTX.

Mike I dont think they have us locked in per say - they are having issues with the program for USA LC - I do agree that maybe instead of making airports that dont appeal to the masses time would be better spent using those resources on US LC project - that would make way more sense as its a major player in Their product line and sales - not some island out in the middle of nowhere

Individuals that have disposable cash are certainly not locked in, but when mom and dad spend $78.00 for ORBX Base, $55.00 for vector and are waiting on OPNENLC for around $32.00 for their kid... They are locked in... I know what I'd tell my kid as a parent, I'm not spending $160.00 on GEX/UTX when all you need to complete ORBX is a thirty two dollar product.

 

Tick-Tock ORBX... You are running out of time and when my wallet closes, you will not get another penny.  Companies I no longer do business with as a result of their business practices and or outright lies to their customers.   Not another penny to Captainsim, PSS (out of business), Black Box (because of PSS), Ariane Design / Papa Tango and/or any other company this person is involved with and simware simulation.

I hear what you're saying Mike.  That's why I was pointing out UTX v2.  It works perfectly with Global and I do not have to wait for Land class from ORBX B)

I'm running a $100K+ home simulator and I do not like to mix and match products if I don't have to, I'd rather spend the $160.00 for GEX/UTX and start over. I have no problem supporting developers that support my platform and I 100% trust Flight1, I'd purchase GEX and replace ORBX just to send some additional cash to the developers who I use to help keep them in business.

Some of those screenshots look fantastic.

I don't own this but am 99% sure that the textures are the same size as the default, so they won't affect VAS usage any more than default.

 

The autogen placement looks more compact, so that's the only factor that could affect performance. If you have your sim set up correctly, I doubt you would notice any performance hit

 

Judging by the quality of some recent releases, some developers still do not care about optimising their products, only about them looking good.

 

For example, I've just spent an hour resampling GenXVFR and A2A's Commanche, which have unnecessarily oversized and unoptimised textures. After resampling the textures, they look better, load quicker and use much less VAS.

 

The developer of GEX cares about looks and performance, that's not fanboyism, I'm currently using FTX Global and Vector, but the developer knows what he is doing.

And why is this Rich. For a program with so much hype there is very little available especially from the flight 1 simfourms discussion. There just isn't any mention of GEX for P3D except for the announcement saying it was available. Nothing from Nick except things to do with FSX. Very frustrating. This seems to be the only forum that has any talk about it. Not even P3d Lockeed forum. Not a very good way to attract customers
