Unlike Europe, Canada and the US have high resolution LC GIS datasets that are upgraded every few years. In Europe, some of the countries have equivalent, readily-available LC GIS datasets and some don't. The biggest issue with the NA  LC data is matching it to the companion vector data. Offhand, one would think that since the US and Canadian federal governments provide the GIS data for the digital elevation, vector and polygon based products, that the three GIS datasets would match perfectly. My experience with working with the US GIS datasets is that they almost match perfectly. But finding the discrepancies is the challenge. It's like hunting for the proverbial needle in the haystack and often only complaints from the users of the datasets are what exposes the inconsistencies.

 

And we all know how finicky we flight simmers are ...

Hey Mike - just for clarification - although both products (GEX and UTX) use Flight1 as their distribution source, they are entirely different companies. UTX is released by Scenery Solutions and Allen Kreisman (a principal) has posted here often. His product IS exceptional. It is more in competition with FTX Vector than anything else.

 

I have FTX Global, etc and I use UTX for the vector product and it is exceptional!

There is a line in the GEX GUI for P3D that reads: Upgrade UT for Canada---/located/enabled for P3D

 

Does this mean UT for Canada will now work in P3D? or is it UTX for NA?

 

The older Canada product should work as also Alaska is there also but could be tricky - dont hold me to that though

So no problem taking our money when HE was selling "Entertainment Products". Well, he and Flight 1 can stick their so called "Products for P3D" were the sun does not shine.

So that is what he thinks of Flight Simmers. Hope they go bankrupt!!!!!

I do not use FSX-SE for entertainment only, I also have P3D, but still prefer FSX. I think your statement was a bit "Up Yours" and may I reciprocate with the same gesture.. But, I don't think you would give a toss if you lost your previous customer base. Good luck in the professional market, I am done with Flight 1.

Please do NOT boycott Flight 1 products because of these silly beliefs of Nick.  His derogatory remarks to "entertainment simmers" and ORBX are solely his own thoughts.  I have a private email from a high Flight 1 source (who shall remain anonymous) that the management at Flight 1 have begged him to stop these stupid posts and just concentrate on promoting his GEX product and leave the rest to the consumers of flight sim products .

 

I will NOT purchase GEX for P3D because it has nothing I need.... but I will continue to support Flight 1 in their other endeavors with aircraft, sceneries, utilities , etc etc  :rolleyes:

Seen it, and agree. They should stop him before he does anymore damage. Loyalty cuts both ways, and so far it is not looking good for them. They should be impartial, and take the good with the bad. Maybe they should contact Aerosoft and the like and learn a bit of public relations.

Every time I fly Europe with Global,Vector and Landclass I need to remind myself its not an ORBX full fat region, its that good! and then I remember the lifeless brownish textures I used to see with GEX..yuk

Well, since Nick has locked that thread and deleted the posts from Julian and myself... I will just point out one last thing and leave this issue closed.  I have documented proof Nick is lying when he states NO ONE from Flight 1 management disagrees with his negative posts.  This is ONE thing he cannot take away by deleting or locking . Sorry Nick but I have LOST all respect I ever had for your contribution to the flight sim world.  I am so sorry you lost your expertise of the computer world on satisfying your own narcissistic  endeavors.

Again, just to clarify and not to take sides - UTX is a different company from either Flight1 or GEX - they use Flight1 Ecommerce wrapper to distribute and collect. Allen is a great guy and dedicated to providing the best product at the best price for his customers.
