Was really forward to this plane but now crossed it off the list. I have to wonder why they would only release to Xplane when FSX is still dominate.

Warbirds-

You need to have your real name when posting.

Now that we have that resolved, yes there will be a FSX version, and was originally built for that platform.  But as part of a marketing strategy, I wouldn't expect the fsx version for at least 6- 12 months after the Xplane release.

Warbirds, if you look right at the bottom of Kyle's original post you'll see the following line:

  • The DC-6 will release first for X-Plane, and will then migrate into other platforms at a later date

And you will also be reminded to sign your full name in the forums.

Not to jump over Kyle's post but I wanted to tell you all that I have been live streaming the plane via twitch if you are further curious to see it in operation.

I addressed this in the very first post. The DC-6 was our project to learn about developing for X-Plane without all the automated functions to have to fuss with. Most of the team members are big fans of radials, too, so it was a natural choice.

Full names in the forum, too, please.

haha - they're probably more enjoyable than my videos, too. That thunderstorm one was a good one.

How torky will this one be :-)

Peter Torky (sorry).

X-Plane 12 and MSFS2020  🙂

System specs: Windows 11  Pro 64-bit, Ubuntu Linux 20.04 i7-13700KF  Gigabyte Z790 RTX-4060-Ti , 32GB RAM  1X 2TB M2 for X-Plane 12,  1x256GB SSD for OS. 1TB drive MSFS2020

As someone who made the jump to X-Plane last year, I was surprised by a couple of things:

* My older Core2 Quad 2.66GHz machine does fine.  It's the graphics card that suffers.  I'm on a lightweight GT640 card with 1GB of RAM and it's enough in most cases, but 2GB or more would be much better.

* the HD mesh that Kyle mentioned is free and amazing.  Even with the low end card mentioned above, I'm able to run it and get 30FPS on most planes, even a payware jet with complex modelling.

* If you're wondering how your machine will do with X-Plane, download the demo and try it out.  The demo is exactly the same as the full version and it will run for 15 minutes under your control, and "forever" under AI control.  That will give you plenty of time to try different rendering settings and see how they work for you.

Kyle, thanks for taking the time to post these shots and the links.

Questions:

* TrackIR work?

* Has anyone on the beta team tried the X-Plane plug-in for Shared Cockpit?

Steve Kirks

Hi Steve,

Yes i mostly fly with a copilot using smartcopilot. (B737, B757, An24, Js32, Baron Carenado).

Writing a file for a plane is a long run. For such a complex plane, it is not doable without the help of the devs.

Without such feature, i probably will not buy the DC6.

Edited the post to be more clear about Shared Cockpit and the beta DC-6.  It was not a question of whether or not someone has used Shared Cockpit.

* TrackIR work?

Dunno. That's usually an issue between TrackIR and the sim thing, and not so much the aircraft.

* Has anyone on the beta team tried the X-Plane plug-in for Shared Cockpit?

Not to my knowledge.

Kyle Rodgers

Aaron, I have never used twitch.. Can those videos be seen( recorded), or only when they are live?

I tried to watch them, but when I hit play nothing seem to happen :-/

Peter Osborn

Nothing... it doesn't play for me. Do I have to register or anything?

Thanks Tom

UPDATE: I updated adobe Flash.. all is well now.

TrackIR works fine in X-Plane and there's even an analog to EZDok camera called X-Camera, which works quite well and incorporates TrackIR.
