is it wrong of me to play both sides?  I have Rex4 and ASN...they seem to work well together to produce some great weather.  ^_^

David, almost nothing of what you said is true.

O really!, well REX confirmed that it does give clouds to match METAR, but you know best!

If David is referring to Rex 4 Texture Direct (which I think he is), then my understanding is that it makes some sort of sky texture selection based on the METAR - obviously not an exact match since, as you say, the METAR doesn't include that information, but I don't believe it's totally random either.  What's randomized are non-sky textures

Well, as you aren't a target customer anyway, that's fine. You wait for Weather Direct and its new API.

P3D is targetted at commercial users who use repeatable scenarios in real world training to practice learning to fly properly, not some game environment. REX clearly saw the project for P3D as serving the professional user with an external tool to deliver that fidelity with consistency and veracity.

So it's only your time wasted, posting such a creditless view.

Haha ... If only you knew!

Oh .... and please don't throw your toys out of the pram on my account with your creditless remark!!

Thats a good definition of it, Pete. Although I'm pretty sure ASN also allows you to `build` your own weather as well - as does Rex Essentials. WA is really a clever GUI to provide a pictorial reference of the who, what, what and when of the weather. And share it with others. It's doing for the METAR what REX4 does for texture combinations.

Yea  I know  that asn  can  do it  but  it takes a lot longer  to make, but  don't know  if  it can  do what Wa  can  do and  as quickly.   Think that some user  are confusing  Wa  with a live weather  engine  which it isnt

Well, Weather Architect IS a weather engine, it's just not real-time weather engine, rather a custom weather engine.

Sorry to bring up an old post, but being Weather Architect is 50% off currently, is there any reason I couldn't have both ASN and Rex WA installed at the same time?  I'd only use one at a time of course per sim session.

As great as ASN is for live weather (love it!) and all the randomness is brings, sometimes I want a specific scenario that I've yet to quite get right using just ASN.  Weather Architect seems like a great option for building these custom scenarios.  But, if I have to remove ASN, it's not worth it, as it's my daily go to option as most times I like the real weather.

And, even further off topic but thought someone might know before I start searching, does the PMDG 777 radar support WA yet?  I know it works great with ASN and use it often.

Thanks

There's no problem with having them both installed; however, make sure they're not running concurrently.  BTW, in-regards to ASN, have you tried simply searching for the weather scenario you desire?

Nope...

Hey,

Will you guys be able to add real-time weather option in this app.  It would be cool to use real-time when one needs to.

Thanks

There's a separate product for that  - next-gen real world weather - Weather Direct

To answer your question in regards to the PMDG 777 radar, it is no.  However, I have two responses to this.  We are presently working on our own weather radar with MILVIZ called: WX Advantage Radar.  It is a stand alone gauge that can be placed in any aircraft as well it works with default FSX/P3D weather or any 3rd party weather engine.   It will be the most accurate radar on the market in relation to cloud and precipitation synchronization goes.   We are presently beta testing the FSX version of the radar.

Expect more details about this will be coming out in the next month or so.   The second part is that we have talked with PMDG about a solution.  The WX Advantage Radar will be a free gauge for 3rd party aircraft developers can add to their aircraft.  So once finished will approach PMDG with our tool.
