September 17, 201510 yr Hi Guys, I just went from two 42" HDTV's to an Optima EH200ST Projector. Although the projector looks nice during daytime flights, night flights look terrible. So I decided to abandon the projector idea, I'll use the projector for football. Looking for info from individuals that are using a 4K UHDTV with Prepar3D 2.5. I'd like to get an 85" 4K UHDTV, (the one shown below) that would be used with three Titan X's and a 4790K setup. http://www.eastcoasttvs.com/Samsung-LED-HDTV-p/un85ju7100.htm Thanks Former Beta Tester - (for a few companies) - As well as provide Regional Voice Set Recordings Two: AMD-9950X | One: AMD-7950X3D | Three: Asus TUF 4090s | Three: 64GB DDR5 RAM 6000mhz | Three: Cosair 1300 P/S | Three: 990Pro 2TB NVME One: Eugenius ECS2512 - 2.5 GHz Switch | Three: Ice Giant Elite CPU Coolers | Three: 75" 4K UHDTVs | One: Boeing 737NG Flight Deck
September 17, 201510 yr I wouldn't buy that right now. UHDTV prices are set to drop like a rock over the next couple years. Jeff Thomson
September 17, 201510 yr If you have not seen a 4K TV running P3D before then you'll be in for a surprise. It's actually very very good. I'm now using the Samsung 65" UHD (upgrading from a 4K 55") and love it, especially the night flying as the colors are so real to life. My resolution is 4096 X 2160 so unsure if the larger 85" screen will show up the pixels. I guess it will depend on how close you need to sit. Reading about your latest cockpit setup (very jealous) I'd say it'll be perrrfect, you will still need two screens tho. (lol) One thing that also surprised me was how much I gained in performance from my 30" 3 screen 1080 setup to a single screen 4k setup. I'm guessing you would prefer to have the projector wraparound effect for your home build but I know what you mean about the washed out night lights. I have to sit in a real 73 sim every three months as part of my airlines cyclic program and even there the night visuals aren't perfect. Hopefully someone with an 85" TV will post here soon. btw... I got the curved screen model, but wish I didn't as it will give you a slight fisheye effect Im Now waiting for 8K TVs to appear in the stores.

September 18, 201510 yr btw... I got the curved screen model, but wish I didn't as it will give you a slight fisheye effect That's disappointing to hear. I was shopping around for a curved 55" 4k set to replace my 50" 1080p set I have. I was really hoping to hear that the curved sets improve the immersion factor by increasing the peripheral coverage. Are you saying that if you had to do it over again you would get a flat set? September 19, 201510 yr 4k incremental improvement over 1080p less jaggys and easier to read gauges and can zoom out farther. I use new Vizio 4k monitor at 21:9 mode to get feel of two monitors at that ratio. I decided against 3 monitors went 4k instead because don't play shooting games, and it works great for European Truck Simulator 2, but can't get Xplane to recognize 21:9 ratio.

I sit about 3 feet from mine (currently a 50") and I'm wondering if 65" would be too overwhelming at that distance. Seems like it would, but with the curve and all, maybe it would really improve the peripheral effect??
