June 16, 20169 yr That did it Elaine!!! I now have the default FSX AI traffic. How do you DO it? Such knowledge. Do you even KNOW how much I appreciate your help? A lot. A very large amount! Thank you. Jack Sawyer
June 19, 20169 yr Author Currently, me and a friend are trying to figure out how to get UT2 working in p3d v3.2 and 3.3 you see, I currently got the "your flight simulator didn't shut down properly, and you need to reboot your pc" message that doesn't go away even after several reboots C:\Program Files (x86)\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v3\Flight One Software\Ultimate Traffic 2\UT2Services.exe This Error you are seeing is the UT2 Red error of death message  This Error is not easy to pin down, But you have Installed Prepar3D into Program Files (x86) You should never Install anything in here, Installing into this location can lead to problems with administrative and Permission errors and other headaches. The error in question comes from Security\Administrative and or Permissions rites to .exe and folder locations. You have 2 choices Choice 1 If i was to put my "This is Correct" hat on, i would say the following.......... (1) Uninstall the Migration Tool completely (2) Uninstall Prepar3D, Start again, and pick a different place to Install, Not Program Files (x86) http://www.avsim.com/topic/480898-how-do-i-uninstall-prepar3d-v3/ (3) Follow this link for some basic hints and tips on Installing Stuff  , http://www.avsim.com/topic/481623-my-link-thread/?p=3422126 Note the parts about Running Prepar3D and third Party Software as administrator, Also about disabling uac + Install locations. =========================================== Choice 2 If your going to push on and do none of the above i would say the following...... (1) Disable The Migration Tool. (2) Make sure you are Ruining UT2 as administrator Go to Prepar3D v3 ► Flight One Software ► Ultimate Traffic 2 Right Click on UltimateTraffic2.exe and UT2Services, Click on Properties, Click Compatibility, Tick the Box Run this Program as administrator and Click Apply. (3) Make sure you are Running Prepar3D as administrator Right Click on your Prepar3D Icon, Click Properties Click Compatibility Tick the Box "Run this program as administrator" Click Apply (4) I see by your simobjects.cfg that its all messed up. Right Click and Delete your simobjects.cfg, Start Prepar3D and shut it down. It will build a new fresh one. You should now have 9 Default Entries, You can manually add IVAO at a later stage. Copy and Paste this to the bottom of your simobjects, cfg and save it. [Entry.10] Path=SimObjects\UT2 Aircraft Required=True Active=True Go here ► Computer ► Local Disk (C:) ►ProgramData ► Lockheed Martin ► PreparD v3 Click on Simobjects.cfg. You will need to add an at the bottom. Click the Picture and Read the Tex. Be sure that you have the Numbers correct. Click File and Save it (5) Your exe.xml file looks ok!! Do you hear the Music when you start Prepar3D ??
June 19, 20169 yr For the record, I have always installed FSX and P3D in the default Program Files (x86) folder. Christopher Low AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D CPU / 64GB DDR5-6000 RAM / 12GB Nvidia RTX 4070 Super GPU / Gigabyte X870E Aorus Elite Wifi 7 / 1+2TB Samsung Evo Plus M2 Nvme UK2000 Beta Tester

When you run into problems with your Sim with errors and so on and then try to diagnose the fault, its down to a "process of elimination" Its better to Never Install anything into Program Files (x86) this way you can eliminate this from your investigations.
June 19, 20169 yr I may well decide to reinstall P3D and all my addons from scratch in the near future, so I will bear that in mind! June 19, 20169 yr Delete all the SimObjectPaths statements apart from the last one. Please note the amendment I made to my post about your exe.xml file. This could be crucial! I have this issue, it's to do with the migration tool keeps adding extra lines of simobjects I've tried to work out how to fix it with no luck as their forums is offline
June 19, 20169 yr Oh, imagine if they actually made UT3 and gave us a native installer A man can dream. [MSI MPG X870E Carbon | 9800X3D (PBO +200Mhz / -20 Offset) | Corsair 64GB DDR5 (Custom Timings) | RTX 4090 Founders Edition (Undervolted) | WD SNX 850X 4TB + 4TB | Antec Flux Pro]

Hi Elaine nice tutorial - easy stuff - one thing I would change is make a copy of your original P3D.cfg file launch P3D get out of sim and just copy back you old one so you dont have to do all your settings again Now this has drove me crazy in P3D traffic is there but never moves - is there a setting I am suppose to do in UT2 gui ? - I did rename my trafic.bgl to .old - that doesn't seem to matter either way - I have the three payware schedules but not installed yet I would assume I dont need them to see moving aircraft - thanks for the help Rich Sennett
June 19, 20169 yr Also on start up of UT2 gui you have to route to fsx.cfg file and fsx.exe file - only once but if you update the schedules as I have three payware versions you have to find cfg and exe files again fyi Rich Sennett

Do you hear the Music when you start Prepar3D ?? Hello Poppet, Thank you for taking time to read our posts! Following up on the post by Andreas, (I am the friend he mentioned) I have P3D V3 installed to the default path. I do not have FSX. I have uninstalled UT2 from my PC and proceeded with my installation from scratch. I have installed everything as per your instructions. I made all the tweaks the same as your suggestion with ONE exception: SimObjectPaths.0=SimObjects\UT2 Aircraft <-- I have set this to 10 for me. It is sequential with the rest of my entries. I do not have any entry duplicated, nor does it skip any numbers. I am running everything in administrator mode. My UT2 configurator runs without any errors on the splash screen. I can now get into traffic repaints without an error (this used to be an issue when I installed using migration tool). It seems I can go through the entire configurator without any errors now. I have not made any changes except reduce traffic to 14% and remove the sound when P3D starts (I can confirm that I heard the sound after the fresh install) I will still get the "Warning! Flight Simulator did not shut down properly..." error every time I load P3D, even after rebooting. (This happened with both installs) I still do not have any traffic. Can you think of something else I can do besides a fresh reinstall of P3D? Will getting this error message ensure that something is going wrong and UT2 will not work? Thank you again!

SimObjectPaths.0=SimObjects\UT2 Aircraft The others are covered by the new SimObjects.cfg file. June 20, 20169 yr Author Hello Mike, I will Post here properly tonight when i get home but some food for thought now......... I will still get the "Warning! Flight Simulator did not shut down properly This here is a problem, Until you get past this you are at absolutely nothing. Like i said you are better to Install outside on (x86) but for now we will push on This probably will not fix the error but you need to eliminate this first Are you logged in as a Guest or as administrator? So you have Prepar3D installed into Program Files (x86) ? You need to go there and give this folder the proper Permissions. Go to the Lockheed Martin folder at this location, Right Click on it, Click into Properties, Click into security, Click into Advanced You will see at the top Who is the owner ? It might say system It should say You administrator Click Change, Click advanced, Click Find now Navigate through the list and double click your "name\administrator" Click Ok, Tick the box Replace owner and subcontainers and objects Click apply Do that and come back....... ========================== If you have success doing that......... Remember, Only 2 things make the UT2 planes appear, your exe.xml file and your simobjects.cfg, everything else can be sorted out later. Dont bother going near your control panel for now exe.xml file, Can you confirm that you still hear the music when you start Prepar3D? Simobjects.cfg Can you confirm that you have added the Entry to your simobjects.cfg in ProgramData ► Lockheed Martin ► PreparD v3 just like the image shows in post 167 (3 posts above this one)

OK, so.. I am logged in as an administrator. I went ahead and gave myself ownership persmission for the entire "Lockheed Martin" folder in ProgramFiles(x86) ([name]/administrator) To check on the sound I had to re-activate it from the UT2 config. And yes, I can still hear the sound. I will just keep this on for the time being. [Edit] Rebooted I still get the Warning error message. This is the entry from my simobjects : [Entry.11] Active=True Path=SimObjects\UT2 Aircraft Required=True Thanks
June 20, 20169 yr Author I still get the Warning error message. Does the error message present itself when you start Prepar3D or shut it down
