May 20, 201610 yr Squirrel does flight school, only the second youtube video to feature last weeks beta. (Not sure on Novawings #5 vid).

May 20, 201610 yr I suppose the thinking is if the lessons don't include starting the aircraft, then it may be easier to keep beginners away from controls that aren't covered. There's more lessons coming with the DA-42. Maybe they include a start procedure with working buttons?

May 20, 201610 yr aren't even clickable ????????????????? DTG Flight School is not a full fledged simulator. Have you heard of "Microsoft Flight"? The intended audience of DTG Flight School is not targeted for "hardcore" simmers. Try it and have fun...... Patience is a virtue.. RJ

Try it and have fun...... Patience is a virtue.. RJ I think Flight had full startup procedures. I understand what flight school is, but there was also a lot of hype saying these planes were going to be modeled well and better then your typical FSX default aircraft. What I've seen so far has been disappointing. Master switches are a pretty basic thing to model. Even FSX default do that. I really don't want to sound like a negative nancy, but what in the heck is going on with the horizon/haze and visibility in that video? 15:13 for example. May 21, 201610 yr "I don't know how to turn this thing off". Isn't it simply just move the throttle to idle (or by checklist), check the magnetos, turn mixture to idle cut-off, turn off magnetos, and turn off master switch? May 21, 201610 yr And unfortunately showing something in common with Aerofly FS v2 - apparently the master power switches in the Piper PA-28 aren't even clickable ????????????????? I asked a tester on facebook, and was told that there are click spots for all of the electrical and engine controls, but they dont seem to work in the beta. However, key commands still work so you can do cold and dark and then crank the aircraft with key commands if desired. Not sure if this will be part of the release patches or not Let me guess.... you want 64bit. Josh Daniels-Johannson

May 21, 201610 yr Let's wait and see guys... it's just a few more days... I just finished installing the pre-release. Just imagine if someone, not DTG, announced a new add-on for FSX which would convert FSX to 64 bit, include the quality of ORBX FTX Global ( and some more... ) for default scenery, and DX11 support. It would come with just 3 aircraft,. ready for the 64 bit code, and a series of "adventures" replicating the life of a student pilot at a flight school. The guy asked $15,00 for it... What would the croud have said / done ? I strongly believe we would all have taken the plunge without thinking twice, if not for other reason at least because after having payed for add-ons that promissed FSX optimization or giving us additional graphic features or spent so many hours tweaking it. we would be interested in, for just $15,00, test the resukts of a 64 bit FSX platform ... right ? I can't expect more from the about to be released DTG Flight School, and I would surely have bought that add.on if it had been made available in the past... Further to this, I know that all of the experience DTG and it's users will gather from the use of Flight School will positively contribute to their upcoming Flight Sim ! DTG's Flight Sim is where I put my simmer eyes right now - I guess Hardy is not going to release yet another version of Aerowinx PSX, and DCS is not going to announce civil aircraft and World coverage either, so... DTG Flight Sim will arrive before anything else that could really call my attention in the next months / years... Ah, yes, X-plane 11 will be announced some day, and it's a nice sim too... but... For me there is yet another advantage - a controlled offer of add-ons, through a well defined source ( Steam ) and at a pace that will pretty much depend on DTG, not 3pds... What some can see as a limitation if it is going to work this way ( we don't know yet ) I see as an advantage. That's in part what made me like MS FLIGHT too - that DLC-based offer through just a couple of stores... Not closing the door to 3pds, just getting a disciplined / filtered / quality controlled offer... DTG / Steam will decide what to offer based on their feedback from the user community, and Steam is an excellent probe for sure... And, as far as I am concerned, no announcement of great FSX add-ons ( or P3D for that matter ) will even make me have 2nd thoughts about investing a single penny more in those platforms. For me DTG Flighjt School marks the start of a new Era, with X-Plane being the only alternative for simmers wanting something more than what is offered by, for instance, Aerofly FS v2 ( which I believe is also a very nice sim, probably one that I would give the same use I give to DCS World, where I mostly takeoff, make a short circuit and some aerobatics and then land... just to profit from the great flight dynamics... because everything elese offered by that platform is perfectly useless to me...) IF LM announced right away an upcoming 64 bit version of their sim, that might be interesting though... Poor P3D users who have been paying $200,00 for each new release / patch.... but a 64 bit version of the sim would be a different matter, that's a fact... and even I would be tempted to embark on it, if not for other reason, to at least be able to use my PMDG 777 bought for P3D and used once :-/ Flying gliders since 1980 Flightsimming since 1992 AMD Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB, 1 TB and 500 GB nvme2 SSD drives, HP 27" 60Hz LED monitor @ 1920x1080, T16000, Hotas from old X52 Pro, Saitek Combat Rudder Pro (2010 model)

Hi Nancy Actually, although it isn't graphically optimal, the sky can look like that! An inversion layer looks like a very sharp border between the hazy grey below and the clear blue skies above. I concur it looks weird and unnatural. The first time I saw it during one of my real world flights I was stunned! DTFS is not based on this planet, but some near parallel world with a strange and unique atmosphere I hope they fix this, as it does look truly awful Again, the sky on our planet can look like this, but I agree it should be presented more realistically. That sharp border between grey and blue should be a lot brighter than the dark grey it is now. Cheers, Bert AMD Ryzen 5900X, 32 GB RAM, RTX 3080 Ti, Windows 11 Home 64 bit, MSFS 2024
