Does the new Autogen have any immediate implications on W2XP covered areas? As far as I understand not, as W2XP has its own OSM-based objects and database, or...?

No, W2XP generated from OSM data in good areas will be much more accurate than autogen, however it will change those areas that are mixed together in the OSM+Autogen sceneries

  • Hehe, we see this very regularly when an update to X-Plane comes out.   People are seeing all sorts of things (framerate better/worse, clouds nicer/horrible, autogen better/worse). The mind is easil

  • Sorry, but I am absolutely sure, you are NOT looking at default autogen here, but instead at some other add-on scenery (w2xp, osm2xp or hand made). The buildings are too specific (they are models of m

Hi Till,

not sure about the framerate (didn´t get to download b2 yet) - but the number of static aircraft will be directly related to the number of available parking spots placed by the scenery author. You can check if you pick "location" and the "select global airport" - and then look at the available spawn positions (minus the runways). Also note that if the original author used "misc" as type of spawn, the new system will not place any aircraft there. This was poorly documented in WED before, so we authors placed a alot of "misc", because the other options (gate, tie-down, hangar) did not match the spot, really...

Jan

Ahh, Thanks, Jan, for clarification!

So you airport-builders will have to go through all the WED-airports to corret those parking positions? :nea: Maybe LM can rewrite the WED-tool so that the "misc" places are in general switched to "gate" if close to a building or "tie-down" if far from a building. Otherwise I am afraid that this great new feature will take years until it will be generally available...

With regard to the FPS: I have very nice FPS everywere, but over London. Vancouver is 25 to 30 (autogen maxed out!) and even over NYC I have 12 to 20. :db: Only London gets me down to 5 to 8 after take off from Heathrow. Strange is that NYC or Vancouver look much better then London.

I couldn't check EDDF because EDDF is not loading up at all (crashes while scenery is loading).

Happy Landings!

Correct - the scenery builders will have to go over there airports, add more ramp starts with the correct data to fully take advantage of this new feature. Fortunately it only takes a few minutes to "change" the data, but adding rampstarts takes about 30s per position (or so).

Cheers, Jan

Can anyone verify that KMCO Orlando International Airport was shipped with 10.50b? I think I saw this in the FlightSimCon presentation on Youtube. Any pics? I'm not updating till it's stable! Thanks!

Ben said that they will not include new airports in the first betas, they will start once they are getting to the end. They expect a longer beta run and so they would need to do this twice if they added them at the beginning already

Jan,

Where can I find more info on this subject?

KMCO is in, as is KLAX

KMCO is missing static AC though. KLAX is perfect for testing new ATC handling of AI, especially because I see up to three runways being used at once.

Not sure you got it right (or maybe that's me not interpreting right what you wrote). They already released a batch of airports in beta1, and will do it again near the end of the betas :

Finally, our plan is to do one more airport collection from the gateway toward the end of the beta before we call 10.50 final. In the past we’ve done one airport collection per release, but for a long patch (e.g. 10.30, 10.40, 10.50) by the time we go final, hundreds of gateway submission are ready to go. We’re planning to take another batch in a few weeks, which will let people get fixes in to airports where the problems were revealed in 10.50

Could be seen both ways ;) I am on steam, thats why i cant comment on that ^^

We have to wait until WED version 1.5 is out

Officially retired

Any Idea when v11 will hit the streets?

Noone has any idea whatsoever.  x-plane 9 last version was 9.69 afaik, so you have some time in 10 left ;)

Hi Carlos,

Ben has been writing about these new features in his blog: http://developer.x-plane.com/2016/05/apt-dat-1050-proposed-format-changes-posted/

We have to wait until WED version 1.5 is out - it will allow to use these new features.

Jan

We also need the new WED in order to set the new flatten flags for airports. It should be out in the "next few weeks" according to the dev blog. So for now, Autogen is nicer, but GA airfields still look like ski ramps.
