I could have sworn cloud puffs was ignored by Skymaxx, but I can't remember where I read that

That's true, the X-Plane cloud setting has no effect on SkyMaxx.

  • Hehe, we see this very regularly when an update to X-Plane comes out.   People are seeing all sorts of things (framerate better/worse, clouds nicer/horrible, autogen better/worse). The mind is easil

  • Sorry, but I am absolutely sure, you are NOT looking at default autogen here, but instead at some other add-on scenery (w2xp, osm2xp or hand made). The buildings are too specific (they are models of m

If you haven't already, go to the "developers blog".  Ben has discovered a problem that goes back to X-Plane 6 that is rearing it's head in 10.50b.  He explains it in some detail, much of which I sorta understand, but lots of which I don't.  The fix will be coming down soon - hours not days - with B2.

Has anybody noticed loading times improvement on 10.50 or is it me experiencing placebo effect?

I can swear I see a bit of improvement...I certainly hope so.

Anybody?

Thanks for the heads up, VERY interesting and well explained.

Good news, FlywithLua/RTH not working though on my machine. Will check out the autogen now.

Autogen looks great I think, in the US at least. Didn't have a chance to compare in Europe or other regions.

Regarding Lua and RTH there is a quick and dirty fix (as described by the author of the fix) here: http://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?/files/file/22387-real-terra-haze-for-flywithlua/&page=8&tab=comments

So the lights on my IXEG 737 appear to be broken with 10.52b meaning several lights are stuck on even without the battery on.  Reinstall of plane didn't fix issue.  Background light is full bright, wheel well lights are on, and landing lights are on.  It's weird though, the actual bulbs aren't glowing but the light is reflecting off the ground/panel.

I'm hearing you John (about the sorta understand bit) ... but the bit I really identified with was " If I had a time machine, I’d go back to 2000 and kick myself in the &@($* ..." (quote Ben Supnik "Anatomy of a Crash"). :)

The new autogen looks awesome where there is good data ! I like the static planes too !

It is not just the IXEG, the lights of ALL aeroplanes are now fully turned in, including the PMDG DC6. Not sure if this means developers need to update their models or XP has broken something

I've had a few random crashes. I'm currently developing a GA field in Norway and I'm loving the ability to do per airport flattening (Something I've been hammering on about for ages).

Don't install this build yet unless you can like with unstable builds and are willing to report bugs. I keep 2 versions installed when there's a beta run so it's easy to jump back it 10.45

Sometimes I wish I didnt have the Steam version so I could play around in the beta's and then I read the problems with betas and think nope all good here :)

From EGFF to YSSY

It is kind of ironic, though you can't really criticize them for releasing a broken beta. The whole point of a beta is to reveal show stopping bugs and fix them before the final release. It was probably working fine during the private beta (how else were they able to post screenshots?), but something got messed up when they packaged the installer for Beta 1.

I agree, definitely shouldn't criticize Beta and LR testing and those testing the Alphas ... too funny!  I suspected as much.

Anyway, NO AG with 10.50b1 here on my test PC which is not a Steam install (main FS PC) -- I'm running fairly basic, IXEG 737, PMDG DC-6, a few Aerosoft airports, HD Mesh V3, SkyMaxx Pro, Weather connector, and a few freeware scenery  ... looking forward to the next Beta and hopefully LR can get this sorted out ... glad they are getting this out to additional users to test.

Cheers, Rob.

Here is a before-after NYC (HD Mesh Scenery v3) comparison of the new autogen (and yes, it definitely works, where the data was good enough in the scenery already).
