10.50b is out!

Taxi lines have disappeared on my airport KMFE. Also noticed a bit of inconsistencies regarding FPS, might roll back to 10.45.

Regarding autogen, I guess it only affects tall buildings as I don't see much of a difference, still see too many campers all around.

  • Hehe, we see this very regularly when an update to X-Plane comes out.   People are seeing all sorts of things (framerate better/worse, clouds nicer/horrible, autogen better/worse). The mind is easil

  • Sorry, but I am absolutely sure, you are NOT looking at default autogen here, but instead at some other add-on scenery (w2xp, osm2xp or hand made). The buildings are too specific (they are models of m

Reverted back to 10.45 and all is well again. So glad X-plane has that ability!  I will wait until 10.5 becomes RC and then try again.

xplane major betas are always very unstable specially the first 2 iterations. If you expected to enjoy those promising new features just from the first beta it won't happen. Betas break things, specially at first, they are introducing tons of new code here!

I installed a second copy of XPX. I don't see any of the new autogen. I did a test flight over Manhattan NY. It looks exactly like 10.45. Anybody seeing the new autogen ?

Hmm ... also flew over Manhattan, it looks basically the same as 10.45 and nothing like the preview which they showed at Flightcon. maybe they forgot to update the library.txt file?

Question for a new user here.

When the updater asks to proceed with some scenery files and other airport files....is it ok to proceed with updating these files?  Would it affect the external HD Mesh or any other custom files I have added?

I do recall reading somewhere that it was preferable to not update these. Any thoughts please?

I flew over Manhattan and had the new autogen... It looks great but my old system ( 2500k) can't handle it with the IXEG 737

Short answer is no. It's going to replace the files that are missing that you replaced it with.

I think the buildings appearing will depend to the stored "height" information in the used OSM data. Default X-Plane has very old OSM data - quite likely there are only few buildings in Manhattan tagged with "height" - so you won´t see the new autogen.

Download the latest HDScenery from AlpilotX - he is using more recent OSM data and that might affect your buildings... Just a hunch, I haven´t tested that myself.

In the end it comes down to crowdsourcing, again. If you want to help in the long run, go tagging in OSM :-)
