Im genuinely interested, can you point me to even one simdirector produced entertainment addon?

You are right there are not many on the market. But SimDirector can be used for Mission Creation. It has a steep learning curve but i'm pretty sure there are missions out their created by SimDirector. It's more that missions haven't taken center stage in Prepar3d like it was in FSX.

Maybe you could say FS Flying School is one such product. It shouldn't be classed as entertainment, but if you listen to some of the conversations by the instructor, it's hard to say it's not.

Either way SimDirector alone isn't enough to convince me. What about all the other changes that are targeted towards us like VAS management, dynamic reflections, cloud shadows etc. The list is wayy longer on our side, and none of those things have any other purpose than entertainment. :)

Again, entertainment missions created by simdirector where? I know of none, if youre going to say there are some show them to me, otherwise its fake news...wheres the evidence please?

Agreed FSFlying School is primarily an entertainment addon, but I know for a fact that quite a few devs have branched out from entertainment scenery addons to military use (and non commercially available) scenery addons.  You could view LM's promotion of quality scenery as a showcase of how their simulator can be bespoke modded.

The other improvements are all about improving immersion, just as valid an objective for any audience.

Maybe not from simmers, but certainly from addon developers who are developing addons for entertainment purposes for simmers. Po tay toe, po tah toe?

No-one will win this arguement.  It's all speculative and conjecture from this side of the fence.  Equal truth, equal myth, depending on your viewpoint, and LM have very cleverly wrapped it all up in a gob-full of legal speak to protect themselves, as you quite rightly say.  But they are not in the entertainment industry, they are in the business of warfare.

They bought the rights to an entertainment title and turned it into a training/educational title for much bigger purposes.   A neat little symbiosis has sprung from that when we all acknowledged the 'educational/training' use of the title when we bought it.  We have effectively in that process scratched their back through testing, feedback and commentary, and they've scratched ours by allowing free use of the title under their provisions.

This whole silly argument about entertainment or not is pretty pointless.  Use it as you wish - education can be entertaining.    Lets just let it lie.

Bingo.

90% of ANY LM patch has been focused on commercial and educational sim users. NOT entertainment ones. I don't know why people dont believe a company when they say to your face that they arent looking for your business. Just because they turn a blind eye doesnt mean they are trying to attract you!

Let me guess.... you want 64bit.

Agreed. No point diving into what they want from us or not. I think the wait is getting to all of us haha! Hopefully in a few weeks more all these questions will be answered once and for all.

I guess the point I was trying to make was, we aren't as surplus to their requirements as some may think. Military and Commercial will always bring in the big bucks, but if LM were actually considering moving away from our market and purely into the Commercial/Military industry, they would have pulled the plug on us a long time ago.

The fact that ORBX have all but admitted to developing for v4 is proof that we are in their radar going forward. You can talk about immersion being important, but for a commercial/military customer ORBX scenery is really not on the radar. Neither is REX or Carenado for that matter, or FS Flight School all of which are featured on their website.

Peace out!

'Our' market segment is the training/educational segment (a broad scope) within their chosen market segments - which is quite sensibly enhanced by the use of the other titles.   As education/training is officially a target market of the P3D platform, then it also makes sense to conclude that they aren't moving away from it.

So you are enrolled in a K-12 academic program or advanced study in aviation? Or maybe you are a real world pilot, who needs to fly his route for planning purposes. Maybe a Civil Air Patrol member? Let's be honest, you aren't those things and you aren't using this simulator for that purpose.

Quite presumptuous of you Josh and you are getting caught up in hair splits which are unnecessary.

My point stands

That's what we got in Prepar3D website now. Should be very soooon.

And they just closed the URL that they uploads Background, Logos etc. It's not accessable now

If we mix the website and the P3Dv4 logo...

Looks great, isn't it? (But sorry for wrong size of background.jpg)
