May 16, 20179 yr It would be somewhat amusing if P3D v4 releases with ORBx FTX Global base scenery textures Christopher Low AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D CPU / 64GB DDR5-6000 RAM / 12GB Nvidia RTX 4070 Super GPU / Gigabyte X870E Aorus Elite Wifi 7 / 1+2TB Samsung Evo Plus M2 Nvme UK2000 Beta Tester
May 16, 20179 yr I'm kinda hoping that LM will re-work/overhaul the lighting engine in P3D v4 ... but we'll see... I'll probably buy FSW also (especially since it's only €24.99) Best regards,--Anders Bermann-- ____________________Scandinavian VAPilot-ID: SAS2471

Anyway it is free of charge to upgrade for current customer. May 16, 20179 yr Id be very surprised if FSW was in the same league as V4. Speculation of course but it seems irrational to me that DTG wold be able to put out a product of the same or nearly the same quality as LM when LM have had a massive head start. Im betting that DTG throw out the baby with the bath water so probably zero backwards compatibility. LM on the other hand seem to see backwards compatible as a major asset. As indeed do I

As indeed do I Prob more the fact that DTG understands that allowing backwards compatibility will be restrictive of DLC sales and therefore ££ and LM just aren't bothered as they are in a different ball game... May 16, 20179 yr that may be so but I would still be of the opinion that LM are in the business of adding features, improving realism both visually and simulation, improving performance and compatibility with modern hardware and maintaining manageable compatibility with existing highend addons which I assume they see as an asset. And that they are doing this for their target market and not us. But coincidentally many of us want the same thing as their target market.

May 17, 20179 yr People need to realize that the Commercial and Military customer's of LM have absolutely no use for V4. They don't have out of memory errors, don't need a new lighting engine and any other bells and whistles V4 will have. LM's licencing policy may be a bit vague, but saying we aren't their target market is an incorrect statement IMO. Commercial and militairy customers are there primairy target ; we are the beta testers after release of each version/update. May 17, 20179 yr hmmm we are all just speculating either way.. I'd like to see some actual numbers though.. Like how many Academic Licences are sold for every Commercial Licence. 30? 40? If so the numbers would be very equal, and that's not that far fetched. Intel Core i7-6700k CPU Overclocked to 4.50GHz - 16GB RAM, Nvidia Geforce GTX980ti 6GB, Windows 10 Home 64-bit
