October 13, 20169 yr When asked, he said, and I quote, "Not in 11.0 (11 point 0)". So he's planning to have it in the XP11 run. Thank you That would make probably win me over on XP11, but i think for now i'll wait. Chock 1.1: "The only thing that whines louder than a jet engine is a flight simmer."
October 14, 20169 yr What is LR's download delivery system like? Do they achieve good speed and reliability, without dropouts, restarts etc?.... Steam has always been my favored way to get game downloads, as they are very fast and resume without issue should there be a disconnect; no starting from scratch like some other systems out there.... the MS Win10 Store for one.

It's not as fast as steams and it does vary in speed during the download but it's still pretty good. 4790K @4.9GHz, 32GB DDR3, 1080Ti, W10-64bit
October 14, 20169 yr It's not as fast as steams and it does vary in speed during the download but it's still pretty good. OK thank you. I'm considering getting XP10 with the XP11 download via LR which will give me a bit of time to get used to XP before making the jump to version 11. Its either that, or wait until XP11 is released through Steam. Either way I'm going to add XP to my sim list, along with P3D and FSX-SE.
October 14, 20169 yr You can also chose to download only a part of the scenery areas. In my xp10 installs I always started by a set of tiles around LPPT, just to test a new version and decide what to do next, and then added more tiles at a 2-3 tiles per day base... October 14, 20169 yr At least with the DVD, you chose which areas (tiles) to install, you can always remove or add others later on, depending on your hard drive capacity. And with downloads, this makes even more sense, you can start with a small set to start flying, and install more during night time. So no, you don't need to install / download the whole world in one go, just hand pick the areas you fly.
October 14, 20169 yr Tiles...? Do you need to download defaults scenery in parts...? Yep, well, not exactly madatory, but I rarefly fly away ( virtually and IRL ) from Portugal, so, what's the use of installing the Whole World. Sometimes I installed the full European territory, and a bit of the US, or India when Zulfi started producing his mesh... But I used XP10 mostly as a visuals generator for Aerowinx PSX, which it does better than either FSX or P3D, and in PSX I only fly circuits around LPPT, or at most an LEMD - LPPT flight from time to time.... October 14, 20169 yr Ah, ok, thanks. X-Plane is a whole new world, so it seems. The other option is to only download XP 11, then mesh v3 from here: http://www.alpilotx.net/downloads/x-plane-10-hd-mesh-scenery-v3/ MSFS
October 14, 20169 yr Tiles...? Do you need to download defaults scenery in parts...? Another quick note in addition to what others mentioned: You can actually still takeoff and land on any airport in X-Plane's world database, even if you haven't installed the terrain files. What X-Plane will do is first pop up a window saying terrain files are missing, and then it will launch the sim with the runways and taxiways floating on water. Which looks weird but it works. Every once in a while I get that, and it's a reminder that I haven't installed that part of the world yet. I downloaded the full XP file (all scenery tiles) before leaving for work. Seems like a good use of time where I won't be at my PC. Can't say how long it took but probably no more than a couple of hours. Its about 60GB for everything though the size can be significantly reduced if you don't download all the scenery tiles. 4790K @4.9GHz, 32GB DDR3, 1080Ti, W10-64bit
October 15, 20169 yr I was hoping for some fixes in XP11 like the ground physics and the torque of the helis (Jose reminded me of it) I find it spins way too much on collective lol i know nothing much about torque , at least get the basic flight model stuff to the correct values. You can keep giving good visuals but it does kill the fun when these small things are in the way. Ryzen 5 1600x - 16GB DDR4 - RTX 3050 8GB - MSI Gaming Plus
October 15, 20169 yr Moderator I find it spins way too much on collective Could be that like me, that you need a much better controller.
