747 BETA - A few shots!

Is this going to be FSL quality? Bad joke aside, it looks beautiful, excited for what's to come.

So.....now we move into FPS. What are the beta team seeing in this regard?

Well when the ONE beta tester for this project has some more time he will probably reply. :LMAO:

Seriously though....a little puzzled that no more fanfare has been seen from other beta testers who should have been just excited as the rest of us regarding what is shaping up to be yet another fantastic release from the PMDG team.

I would expect that more beta testers would have at least chimed in and said "Yep its great, you guys are gonna love it", don't you think?

Anyway...not to fuel any conspiracy theories, I just hope its really as simple as all the beta testers have just elected not to reply on their experiences just yet...Although like I said that would pretty much be unprecedented given the anticipation this project has generated (I'd say more so than the NGX and 777 since it is evolving that technology and from what RR reported, is going to be EVEN better than its predecessors...which I'm still trying to wrap my head around as I believe the 777 is the pinnacle of desktop flight simulation at the moment)

I, too, find the lack of beta tester feeback a little puzzling.

Heck, if I was beta testing Id bet at it all the time and posting some feedback for the community.

I'm puttin' in more than a full day, well... I am retired. Don't know what you guys want to hear. Work in progress??

All,

Keep in mind, as well, that we don't trawl the forum alone for beta testers, so not everyone who's on the team is familiar with the forum. As such they might post over on a Facebook group, or somewhere else, or nowhere.

Truthfully I find that very odd, brother Kyle.

Because being a beta tester implies to me that you would be fully "plugged in" to the community and product.

I have been a beta tester on more than one occasion and that's my thought.

This forum isn't the only one that represents the community, though. Sure, it's our official forum, but limiting ourselves to this one location is unnecessary. There are a number of Facebook groups that have some immensely passionate people, much like there are also people that you'll meet at things like FlightSimCon who are very passionate about their hobby but haven't ever used a forum.

What works for whatever other companies you've tested for, works for them. What works for us, works for us, and is what we'll continue to do.

The beta testers have had the NDA for pictures lifted. If and when they feel like sharing, they can share.

I agree Kyle.  As much as we think this AVSIM forum is the epicenter of the PMDG Universe, there are other worlds out there that share the same passion and excitement we do on PMDG products.  I tend to focus here since it is the official forum, but that's only because I've been here before it was AVSIM and it was Mike Marando's site, and the "M" in PMDG was because you really did produce manuals.  :P

Great to hear that the testers are released to start posting pics.  Hope to see a flood of them soon...she is very photogenic!

Im not going to lie, vas numbers similar to the 777 disappoint me. I had hoped using magic some how the vas numbers would be a lot lower for the 747. I will have to save up for the P3D version then and hope LM fix the vas issues some users are saying happens in p3d. - David Lee

David you seem to miss the point - VAS usage causing OOM affects those who push the sim beyond the limits:  use a bit of common sense in your approach to simming and you should not encounter OOM.  I have NEVER encountered  a single OOM.

I fly your airplanes and nothing else heavy metal. I fly A2A and RealAir for GA. In the PMDG aircraft line, I must turn autogen to normal and use no other traffic and water low or medium 2x. If this is not done I will get out of memory on approach to big airports such as LAX with Orbx OpenLC and Southern California. With this lower slider settings I still reach the OOM limit often in the 777 more than the NGX. I use FSX Steam and started over with a clean install. I gave up my custom AI traffic I spent hours each week always adding to and with bare skies even now I have hit the limit. I use 512 cloud resolution to save size. No ground traffic or boats.

That is why I had hoped the 747 had a VAS more similar to the NGX or better. It was wishful thinking, does P3D handle VAS better in the same situations as Steam? Depending on the 747 license price I would like to finally upgrade to P3D and if it handles VAS better than FSX Steam I will upgrade. - David Lee

And btw, just by reading what you do with your scenery confirms my earlier post - just stop pushing the sim beyond it's limits - like anything else in life there is a trade-off to be made...

No AI, boat or ground traffic. Normal autogen slider. Low water slider. How do I push it beyond limits? - David Lee

I hate you! LOL Cant wait to get my hands on, someday maybe.
