X-Enviro is OUT

Featured Replies

I do not like the $70.00 for the fork-out, any better than the next guy...but frankly, nothing excites me about SMP 4.0.  I do love the cloudscape(s) in  Xenviro,  and I have never used historical weather, only 'on demand'.  I think that I am also leaning for the Xenviro.  Shame...have been an SMP guy from the start.  The clouds look the same quite frankly as in V3...wrap around the x/y the same, etc.  Still sitting in the bush, but...the bush is closer to the Xenviro camp at the moment....

I'm just waiting to them to hit 1.1 version!

What's up with 1.1?  The scoop?  :)

Guess they'll be adding more cloud textures.

Did you see the 1.4 video @simrussia ? I some how found the clouds very cool

Improve overall textures to enhance, improve texture blending with terrain, get rid of the thin flat stratus layer and add look up query for ATIS purpose.

If they keep pace with their roadmap, this could really become the equivalent of ASN for X-Plane. But I think they really need to provide some form of weather customization. And also the price is maybe just a little bit too steep for the available market. Apparently a lot of people are holding out just for the price.

Hi,

Could you please link that 1.4 video from Simrussia? Can't find it.

Thanks

Pierre

I guess you meant 1.04 and not 1.4 which is a whole new world.

Yep, I think so too ! Thanks anyway^^

haha ya 1.04

I noticed the settings sliders sort of do what you think they would do in the 1.04 update.  With 1.0 I barely saw a difference between the "optimal" and "maximum" presets both visually and FPS impact, but with 1.04 if you find an area of overcast and then fly/slew above the overcast you can see the changes visually and especially FPS wise.  For example with my system and XP settings I lost about 10-12 FPS (45 to about 32-35 with nothing else changed) going from optimal to maximum but I could really see the difference visually.  The distance detail slider seemed to have the most effect.

I would say if you lost performance with the new update, go try messing with these sliders again.  The good thing is you can instantly see the difference and the impact.

You say that like it's a good thing. The prospect of losing 10-12 FPS with a single slider click scares the pants off me!

The more options to tailor to specific setups the better imo.  Some people like to fiddle and some like presets.  I'm a fiddler by nature.  The good thing is you don't have to apply the settings or restart the sim to see the effects.

I hate to say my system is starting to get old with an i5 4670k and GTX 980 but by overall performance with XP11 beta and xEnviro has been surprisingly good.  The future looks bright with this combination. I fired up P3D last night (first time in a few months) to get some comparison shots between AS2016/ASCA and xEnviro and let's just say it was very similar looking...which is a good thing.
