X-Enviro is OUT

Featured Replies

Anyone notice cloud scapes now are different clouds are of the puffy variety now - not a fan looks more like SMP a bit

Not those great looking 2d scapes they looked so real - up in the air on this new update - well see have to play with it more

Oh no! That would be very sad...

I didn't even know that there's a new version. I'll give it a go tomorrow.

I have a copy of XP Beta 1 and XEnviro 1. Just in case.

Any opinions on the latest version?

Not yet, haven't had the time to give it a try. But i'll do that tomorrow. I'll keep the v1 on my hard disk though... ;-)

This version gets an A+ in my book because xEnviro now writes a metar file, meaning listening to ATIS gets you accurate weather information. Before, you had to go online to check the real world metar, but this doesn't necessarily line up with xEnviro all the time (because of how often it refreshes, how it interpolates weather data, etc).

Other than that, the new sliders are nice, and I notice that the winds and clouds are slightly more realistic. Frame rates may or may not be lower (haven't tested enough yet to know for sure), but overall, no complaints.

Yes aircraft is actually getting bumped around now from what I saw - FPS wise I think there has been a hit just felt it not tested it

I think to pull of the smoothing of clouds over mountains ground etc. they had to make clouds more puffy which in turn now does not look like they use to on the ground - its a balancing act I guess

Just a small comparison over mountain area, enviro is not only weather/cloud engine but adds atmospheric/light/Raleigh scattering and now also have sliders for Raleigh scattering and Haze, still testing FPS though if different from 1st release

An updated video with the new features would be great. TKS

Is anyone having problem with version 1.04?  As soon as I select 'ON' from the xEnviro menu dropdown X-Plane locks up then crashes. :Hmmmph:

Noticing a lot more sky banding from original version and see it in your shots and some weird faint vertical lines - more work to be done - they will sort it out eventually - fps are a bit lower than before

I will say I'm disappointed the fps has dropped with the update.  I was hoping this would remain a framerate friendly option, but fear now as they actually fill in the options, it'll get slower and slower.

That was to be expected when they changed the clouds to the puffy more 3d versions - what I like about version 1.0 is it didnt look like all the other clouds out there - had a look of realism to it that was appealing but on the other hand flying through them now appears to be a step forward

Sitting on the runway the sky looked so real not seeing that much anymore - why always a give and take why cant we have it all  :(

My struggle is, as much as I want to go XP10/11, why settle for X-Plane's poor skies (where we actually spend our sim time) but yes they have better default terrain at  20-30 fps when I can enjoy AS2016/ASCA skies at 50+ fps in a PMDG plane. over ORBX stuff.

I want to want it, I do, and I own them all, but damn.

What I do not like and cannot get past is the 2D clouds and being above a thick layer and seeing lights on the ground, besides that it looks great.
