December 15, 20169 yr X plane 11 just needs high quality addons like Dubai, honk kong, Gibraltar, better global textures, and diversity of autogen in regions...the Infrastructure is ready, demand is available...though it is not official and things can always change last minute, but at least ORBX had the courage to reveal a change in their strategy even if they had a different opinion about xplane earlier, even Austin himself made fun of the xp10 UI in the presentation...things change in life...and this is very welcome! Only competion improves offerings and seems xp11 started rolling this snow ball and i expect more to come from other developers, otherwise they will miss the opportunity! Come on fly Tampa! December 15, 20169 yr Ok thanks. Is that Xplane ? I am not an X-Plane user, but I strongly suspect it is.
December 15, 20169 yr Moderator The Facebook page pretty much confirms it is X-Plane https://www.facebook.com/orbxsystems/photos/a.487400171415968.1073741828.487392368083415/708192706003379/?type=3&theater

December 15, 20169 yr IF he is going to develop for X-plane, I do not expect of them to have as large price pots as they have regarding P3D/FSX. No way I am paying that much for something you get almost by default. Agreed with Goran.
December 15, 20169 yr Xplane users have been crying out for more developers to come over the Xplane, and they will eventually come. But be very careful what you wish for, because just as it was in FS9/FSX, your very lively freeware scene will eventually dry up and almost disappear. These days FSX/P3D has become a very expensive hobby as we continually buy the next big release, in many ways it has taken a lot of the community spirit away that we had in the days before everything became focused on the payware scene.. So true! I am not waiting for them, but the majority seems to have the absolute and urgent need to have the big names supporting XP as a platform, before they even consider it to be a serious sim. When the aircraft developer with the 4 big letters released their first product for XPX, I read statements like "we NEED them to produce stuff for XPX" all over the forum. They delivered a product I would rate as "ok" by recent X-Plane standards. But it clearly brought some people over to X-Plane. The release of XPXI catched a lot of attention, and even more people are having a closer look at this platform. Although, in my opinion, the difference between XPX and XPXI in their current state isn't a huge one. Now, the arrival of ORBX will do something similar, I think. So, that's not a bad thing, and LR will sell more copies of their hard work. But I fear as well, that the vivid community will change... I wish, new X-Planers would have a closer look at the new sim when they come over from ESP sims. All this beautiful freeware let's you make XP look so good. And if you want to spend money, I would like to encourage you to donate a bit of your hard earned money to the freeware developers, or buy the products of developers who are into XP for years and who helped to make XP what it is today. To show only two examples, look at MisterX6's most recent work, KBOS. This is a work of art. Support him by donating, and if many new users do that, he might even release more of his magic and ultimately, he might even become a full time developer. On the payware side, look at Felis' Tu-154m for XP. That thing is a monster, and a true study sim that brings fascination and fun at learning the systems for weeks and months! I wish, things would evolve this way.

I think its better to wait and see before judging immediately...ORBX generally have additional innovative features which make them different then others, such as people flow and more... ORBX see the momentum in x plane 11 and they are capitalizing on it...smart move... X-Plane11 GTX1070 8GB Vram - i7 4770K cpu @3.5GHz Quad core - 16GB RAM
December 15, 20169 yr Commercial Member Very interesting. I wonder how they'll do their DRM. It's common for X-Plane aircraft now, but scenery is fully portable so far, even if it comes with an installer. Mario Donick .:. vFlyteAir
December 15, 20169 yr Moderator Good point about the DRM, I'll be curious how'll they handle that one.

The DC-6, while a nice plane, is certainly not the baby ******* ( since when is the gods son censored ) everybody thought it would be. while the businessmodell of orbx is different than that of pmdg (they just can take x-plane scenery developers) the problem is that all your technological edge in FSX/P3D is worthless in x-plane and you need to start from zero.
