Hi Guys,

I'm an ex-crewmember of Swissair which finished their services in 2001. As such, I wanted to have back a B747 of Swissair.

Although we never had a B747-400 (only B747-357) I did a repainting to have one on the B747-400ER which was available in the painting-kit. Maybe it's not perfect, but for my first time doing a repainting it doesn't look so bad I guess.

I made a PTP-File for an upload (if someone likes it). My question is, to where do I have to upload it?

Regards

Urs Kalt

Sorry Guys,

Unfortunately I couldn't include a picture of because I don't know which kind of pictures are accepted in this forum (my jpg-file was refused)

Hi Urs,

I was hoping someone would do a Swissair repaint. It's the airline of my childhood

You can upload your repaint to the Avsim file library. The link is at the very top of the page.

Cheers!

I leave you here with the two planes I have painted so far.

The Saudia is pretty accurate (except some the flag and the "God Bless You", if anyone could help would be perfect!), the Rossiya is not accurate at all, but at least it looks like a Rossiya airplane :D

Both feature a somewhat realistic airline config.

Hi

May I ask, where to get the Rossiya repaint. It's currently my most wanted repaint :)

Kind Regards

How accurate are these configs? N475MC, for example, has LCD screens in PMDG's configs, but CRT screens in reality.

Not very to be honest, G-VROM for example, many things different from reality in PMDG's configs.

As a painter, I'm focusing on the paint and not how ultra accurate the config is.  I can tell you I wasted several hours of my limited painting time tracking down config items I was curious about.

Since it is easy to change the config files, I'd love to see folks taking the initiative and spend some time giving back to our community by researching and posting accurate configs as you research and discover them.

Expecting painters to add this task to their plate only delays the paints you guys are waiting for.

I feel that everyone can contribute to our hobby, and this is a great (and easy) way to do so.  PMDG gave us a bird that we can customize like no other before it in the history of flightsimming....lets band together and let the painters paint...and you guys find those dozens of configurable options that are sometimes unique to a specific airframe and post them for all of us to benefit from.

Maybe a pinned post with this info is in order?  It could contain all sorts of info like configs....and another piece of in we always need is the secal for a particular airframe...again it took me several hours away from the paintbrush to find the one for D-ABVH which I'm wrapping up as I type.

When I release my paints...the configs will be incorrect...hoping you guys will take the baton and help the painters with this info so we can add it before release, and if we don't...folks who are completely enamored with a ultra-accurate config can add them after the paint is out to their copy of the paint.

Anyway...back to painting.

Steve Dra

I appreciate your insight. I asked because N475MC is one that has the notation of "© Denotes accurate and verified configuration.", which turns out not to be true.

So perhaps it would be best to scrap the accurate configuration promise entirely, and allow people to configure on their own, as you mentioned.
