FSW's demise will be the Steam platform. People just aren't ready to go that way, this is not a game like DOOM or GTA, it has to be open and more friendly to the developers (talking about the insane fees here).

steam´s fees are not that bad, 30% for hosting and distributing and handling all the payment is a good deal and not that far off from the actual costs during the lifetime of a product. (downloading 100 of gigs of updates per customer needs to be paid aswell)  Its the additional 30% for dovetail that are killing it :D

However it´s abit offtopic ^^

Upgraded my PC with a brand new GTX1080 and 16GB of fast RAM (2400MHz), with 16 more to come, next month. Bring it on! :P

Cheers!

Sorry, but 2400MHz is not fast by any means today. What's with the timings?

Even 3000-3200MHz are not that high end already.

Dirk.

It looks like in order to enjoy large LOD terrain texture, you need a graphic card with huge amount of video memory, rather than huge amount of system RAM like in the 'other' flightsim.

I'm comming from 1800, so its not a bad upgrade, anyways.

Have been checking a website that should list all the available products, from all shops in my region and the highest I could find there was 2600. But still, my pc runs like a champ. ;)

Cheers!

32GB RAM kits are available @2x16GB sticks from 3000Mhz and higher. I myself first couldn't find 32GB fast kits, until I realized they were mainly available at 16GB per one stick.

Dirk.

PS: I'm not an expert in anything so 4 x 8GB sticks may be found even @higher speeds.

XP10 with 64 bit doesn't even use 10GB of my 16.  So 32GB I think is overkill right now unless you get a wicked deal.

3200Mhz is the highest clock frequency RAM that I know about. What part of that is not "high end"?

Not much do you know then about current RAM:

(the list would be just too long) from G.SKILL F4-3333C16D-32GTZB to G.SKILL F4-4000C18Q-32GTZ

Look it up if you're interested.

Alas, I'll have to get one of those.

Dirk.

Anyone have an idea of what kind of PC specs one will need to run P3Dv4 (with high end add-ons) comfortably?

Consider me enlightened, Dirk. You are correct that I am no expert where RAM is concerned, so news of 4000Mhz RAM comes as a complete surprise!!

Curious how the developer pricing subscription price will work. Will it just change over to v4 or do I have to stop monthly v3 payments and then start v4 payments?
