June 1, 20179 yr You would be surprised to know how many AI aicraft FS loads (that you don't even notice). Use FSUIPC's inbuilt limiter once the new version is released, in FSX I get about 10-20 fps more in busy areas like London.

If it holds 25fps solid which the internal limiter does a pretty good job at hitting it right st 25 it's smooth. June 1, 20179 yr Can we get back to the OP's question? Anyone know what the big killer of frames is? Dave Robertson BE20, BE35, BE02, C560, CRJ, MD80, E190, B777

I don't see the sense in using world wide live traffic, when all you need is traffic around your own bubble as you fly from point A to point B. That to me makes no sense because it is a frame killer. When I fly, I don't care if the AI traffic is keeping up with real world schedules, I just want to see some traffic moving to and from areas of my immediate flight path. Johnny Rosario

I've had this in p3d v3.4. The problem for me was moving jetways. Can't disable them in UT live. That's how Ultimate Traffic works. You can set the size of the bubble to whatever distance you want. The advantage of global traffic schedules is you get realistic airport operations. Otherwise you'd see the wrong airlines showing up at the wrong times of the day.

Here are my settings - try this and tell me if you have any luck: FXAA:on / AA: 2xSSAA / Texture Filtering: 2x / Texture Resolution High / Target Frame Rate UNLIMITED I seemed to get rid of those by setting my frame rates to unlimited. i74790K @ 4.0ghz 32GB DDR3 GTX1070 8GB Dave Robertson BE20, BE35, BE02, C560, CRJ, MD80, E190, B777

Biggest killer so far was AI aircraft. But lets remember these are complex aircraft not the stripped down models like UT, MT or WOAI use. In fact sitting at Seattle i could see the pilots in the cockpit of the AI aircraft. Road traffic didn't seem to have any hit. Neither did dynamic lighting. I have most of the sliders to the right. I pull back half way on some like Autogen, vegetation, shadows, etc. 2048 textures. I have a feeling most of the people complaining about FPS issues are pushing the envelope on settings and have one or a few wayyyy too far. For example thinking they can run everything to the right with 4096 textures and speed trees etc. I think Jordan King's video pointed out some areas that would cause an FPS hit. Have you tied to remove the 3d trees to see if that made any difference? Just curious as you have the same rig as me. I thought that the MT AI aircraft which I have installed and running at 53% were simple AI machines. With my frame rates unlocked, i am smooth as silk but the frames are around 30-45ish. The real test will be when we throw in a few PMDG tubeliners and FSSLabs VAS Bus - whoops - meant airbus Dave Robertson BE20, BE35, BE02, C560, CRJ, MD80, E190, B777
June 1, 20179 yr In my brief testing I found 3D Vegetation (SpeedTrees) and Dynamic Reflections caused noticeable FPS drops. i5 4670K, 16GB RAM, 850 EVO SSDs, GTX 1080, 4K, CH Yoke/Pedals, Saitek Throttles Windows 10, Prepar3D v4, Orbx Base/Vector/Trees/openLC/NA regions, fsAerodata, FreemeshX, AS16, REX, PrecipitFX, ChasePlane, TrackIR A2A C182, F1 King Air, F1 Mustang, FSW Lear35, MilViz T-38, Mindstar GNS

I don't feel like i really need speed trees but to each his own. Sorry I was talking about the native default AI. I don't know if MT uses FPS friendly models like WOAI. I think they do. There might be better ways but this works for me, AI-Aardvark and other models popular with AI programs might not be fully FSX/P3D compatible The only way to tell if a model is FS9 or FSX native is to open the model in a hex editor. As mentioned UT2/Live use native FSX models and they all use bmp texture files, as does MTX from what I understand. Looking at the textures as being either bmp or dds to determine a models nativity is a crap shoot at best. Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
June 1, 20179 yr Well biggest FPS killer is in my opinion the one and only: AUTOGEN... Without Autogen 60 constant fps with all other things on max. With Very Dense Autogen usually max. 45 fps in low, 18 - 25 fps in high pop areas.
