P3D v4 & the JS-41

Featured Replies

If I recall, the J41 isn't a very high flier...ITT would max out at, maybe, 15000 on a hot day with a full load.  The limited VNAV capability of the 750 would be sufficient nearly all cases.

Instant Buy for me as soon as I have my Thrustmaster 160000m HOTAS bought - Love it that his little beauty has made the conversion list - I feared it wouldn't get past the evaluation phase

Thanks @Gregg_Seipp that's reassuring to know, just a shame it's going to cost over £50 plus whatever PMDG charges for the J41

BTW typical cruise is FL170-FL190 under an hour and longer legs you can step up beyond FL200 but you are right she is not happy bunny much above that unless you're very light as you hit the EGT wall. If there's a large amount of ice conditions then all bets are off!

Chris and Gregg-

I’ve been flying her throughout the PNW in flight test, and just yesterday was ruminating I would never see her certified FL250. She’s happiest at FL210 or below, and with anything close to high GWs, much happier even lower in the teens because of the EGT wall Chris mentions. Really, engine management is its own separate facet in this simulation.

The thing I enjoy most about this airframe is the workload. Initially overwhelming, and NOT for online when new or unfamiliar with her; she becomes a series of familiar repeated procedures that is fully occupying but completely manageable online, after several hours in type. For simmers who only have an hour or so in the evenings, she’ll be enormously satisfying.

Maybe there is a chance that propeller animations will be changed too.

In the old FSX version they behaved like on a free turbine, where You could hear the core engine start without having the propellers rotate.

In reality, being a geared turboprop, the propellers should rotate as soon as the engine core rotates.

This issue is due to the fact that underlaying turboprop model stems from the default FSX free turbine. No problem doing so, but engine instruments should reflect the geared turbine, which they perfectly do in the PMDG J-41, but the propeller animations should also be custom made, to be more realistic.

I will miss the old FMC, but can live with the F1 GNS 750 as a replacement.

If that is supposed to be the P3D version of the Jetstream 41, why does it not have the green "P3D" bar at the top of the tailfin?

For those of us who have our eggs in the RXP basket, will the J41 support the GNS530v2 too?

I don't have that much time to fly these days so prefer to turn failures etc off (at least initially) ...is there a way of turning icing off on this plane as I understand it can complicate matters some.  Is there an .ini file or a way to turn this off to get used to the plane etc?

Cheers,

For a 2017 release I would expect so.
