We need some kind of tool that can compare liveries, and do the substitutions automatically...something that would allow one to bulk select a list of AI that can then be substituted in place of existing AI - SIMBOL, I know you have the technology, you do it!

Kind Regards,

I do but I am currently too busy finishing the professional edition of AI Lights Reborn and unfortunately my time is very limited.

I've got a problem now.

I installed some few Repaints from BAI to UTL an when I start P3D at any Airport  it says "UT LIVE Initializing..." and there is no AI traffic.

I installed the AI aircraft, but according to Lorby's Thumbnail report generator tool, a number of them (25 or so) are MDL8 und thus theoretically not compatible with P3D v4 (yes, I downloaded the correct file, but it's the same for v3 and v4). Can someone confirm, have I overlooked something?

Best regards, Dimitrios

I can confirm that UTL recognizes BVAI a/c and plays them correctly in the sim (4.2). Do you see UTL (default) traffic or no traffic at all?

I have tried to replace the erj 135 and 145 in ultimate traffic live with the bvai package models but they don't show up correctly. Some of the other models seem ok though. Until a powerpack comes along for ultimate traffic live (if ever) then this is the closest thing we have.

I think the 135 and 145 could be MDL8 models...

Hello,

I spend a week to find a solution to replace automatically MT6 AI's with BVAI when a suitable livery is available.

I was successful using AIFP, VMRgenerator and BoxerEditor with a macro I have coded.

If someone is interested I can share the AIFP project files, so you only have to compile them to build a new Traffic BGL. (a replacement for "Mytrafficcommercial.bgl")

There are a bunch of models in the BVAI pack that aren't converted for P3d V4. The CRJ200, E135-145, DC10, C510, C17, C5 for instance.

Yes, I'm running the BVAI pack with PSXseecontraffic, and have noticed same. I did a check on some of the models with AIFP and if I'm not mistaken, all of the ones you note (and probably additional) are still fs 8/9 models.

I have to say I've noticed a remarkable similarity in this package to the vPilot AI pack http://vpilotai.boards.net/ that I was using previously...as in, I suspect they are one-in-the-same with some additions and a bit of polish. In order to D/L vPilot AI, you have to join the board, but then you get access to the forums and the post that contains the link.

PSXseecontraffic logs several different criteria regarding models/liveries/aircraft.cfg and there were MANY problems with vPilot AI...and almost identical problems with BVAI. Shame, I was hoping for better, and in some cases BVAI is a bit better, in that there are more models/liveries, but it's still kind of a mess. I don't want anyone to get the impression that I'm not grateful for a FREE AI pack, because I am using BVAI, and it is pretty good.

Yeah and I have a new problem now. Where does the BVAI folder go in the sim? do I have to take the airplane files and move them to the simobjects/airplane files. If I put the whole folder into P3D V4 simobjects folder then Super Traffic Board can't read them and if I put the folder back into P3D V4 then when the sim starts up I have about 100 messages about multiple instances of object found. I am trying to figure it out but the package is so new that I am not sure if anyone else has had this problem yet. Thank you

Hi everyone! My name is Evan; I'm one of the creators of BVAI. I've been watching the discussion surrounding the beta release we did on the package and I'm grateful to see that the community has seemed to enjoy what we've put together. Funnily enough, we had planned for this to be a (relatively quiet) open beta to allow us to resolve the many issues we expected with a project this size. However, interest has grown more quickly than we expected, and there's nothing wrong with that!

I wanted to reply to a couple of the recent comments.

As a general point, I'd like to note that we've provided BVAI for the flight simulation community, for free, with the very clear disclaimer that BVAI is provided without warranty and "as is". Obviously, we'd like to continue to accept feedback and improve the experience for simmers. However, we created the package specifically for use online with VATSIM. While we haven't restricted its use in other places, we don't have any experience with offline model/AI files, and do not encourage or support people's attempts to re-purpose BVAI in this way. If you choose to start moving files around or changing how BVAI works out, you're on your own.

Yes, we're well aware of this. I think it might have been mentioned at some point as part of the release process. In some instances, we need permission from the original developer of the model to actually make a modification. As we await that permission, we felt it would be better to include those models in the beta version. Some, like the CRJ200, have very minor issues. Others are worse, but again we felt it would be easier for us to leave the model in (with the hope of eventually getting permission to update to P4D) than to release the package without those airplanes. Once we get the requisite permissions, we've got a great deal of support from the AIG forums that should help get us get the models converted to P3D.

If there are issues with the VMR file we use for vPilot, or something we can change about an aircraft.cfg that would make an appreciable difference for the average simmer, we'd like to know about it! Please email my colleague Matthew at [email protected]. As I mentioned, in most cases, model developers prefer us not to modify their work, so if the "MANY problems" you've been referring to can be resolved without model modifications and will also represent an improvement for our average user, let's fix them.

evanet,

Please don't take my comments as being critical of the product. As I indicated, "it's pretty good", and could be considered great, since it was provided for free, and there are a LOT of models liveries/models that work well.

VMRGenerator.exe  http://www.lekseecon.nl/PSXseeconTraffic.html (scroll down until you see "download the latest VMRGenerator, version 10.10.") is an ancillary tool used to generate a list of liveries for PSXseecontraffic, and it provides a host of logs that are great for finding issues with aircraft.cfg, such as incorrect, parking codes, parking types, and missing liveries. It's a great tool to use for finding problems, and it's free to download. The product from VMRGenerator is a simple text file and log files, and it does not alter any of the AI files.

I used the VMRGenerator logs as a guide to find problems, then manually corrected all the issues it found.

Only thing I have not done is to convert any FS8/9 models to FSX/P3D, as doing such is not for the faint-of-heart. I did a test conversion with AIFP on the ERJ-145...it converted, but while the flap animation seemed to work, the gear animation did not. I don't know anything about converting models, but the little I've read seems to indicate it can be a time consuming process.

I'll copy this content in an email to Mathew, and we'll see where it goes from there. EDIT - Email sent.

Kind Regards,

Thanks for letting us know. Alot of the textures also are huge and I compressed them and saved 2 gig of space.  I've heard somewhere if you're running 4k you don't want huge HD textures on ai aircraft.

Pete,

Mind sharing with us what you used to compress the textures? My BVAI directory is 9.25 GB, so a 2 GB savings would be really nice!
