I need a new GPU... this scenery is killing my vram on my lowly GTX 970.

FPS with payware tank into the teens with weather.

A patch has been released for those having crash problems

The first set of files removes the invisible collision boxes & should prevent aircraft crashing.

I installed it with 4.1 and had no crashes. Last night I installed 4.2 and no issues

Are people only getting mid to low 20s in the fps category and calling it great performance?

I didn't know our standards dropped that much. Good grief...

Fps are terrible for me - I'm on an older system with 4Gb vram

my 2500k is 4 ghz.

With weather and AI traffic (25% UTL), and payware Carenado I'm getting 13-16

I don't think "our standards have dropped that much" at all. FT has given us arguably the most detailed and best airport scenery on P3D to date and yet with all that detail, for most people, it runs well despite 'low' FPS whilst also running weather engine clouds, AI traffic, a resource heavy PMDG or FSL aircraft, and in my case additional Boston city scenery. 

Try that just 12 months ago and see how we would have gotten on...

FSL A320 

Full ovecase weather

UTL max 30 traffic

AS min cloud draw 140 miles

FPS locked at 25

Stayed there for all pre-flight and take off.

I posted a screenshot on page one with all airport options on with a default aircraft, 41 FPS.

I turn off grass/cars anything that's almost never seen and the airport can keep the grass cut

I can't get above 25fps no matter what settings I use.

 

6700k 4.6 1080ti win 10 x64

I can't seem to open the DAT file.  What should I use to do so?

Just did a FPS test.

With FSL A320 AS etc.

Simobjects shadows ON and receive ON.

Clouds shadows ON and max distance.

FPS locked at 25

You are not supposed to open the DAT file. That file is used by the installer. Just insure that the DAT file is in the same folder as the installer executable.

I guess this is the right thing to do when in the sim you are, like me, an airliner pilot.
Having said that though I must confess that I unfortunately have an irresistable weakness for 3D grass, 3D cars on parking lots, animated people and vehicles, great lighting, and stuff like that.
I just enjoy airports environments so much more when having such options. So far only Flightbeam airports are giving me reasonably good performance with these things on.

I am not complaining of course. That is my choice to sacrifice 10 FPS and sometimes land with FPS going down to teens (luckily usually over 20).
But once I saw what the scenery wizards like Flightbeam or Flytampa can do, I just automatically stopped being able to resist it. And I mean that!
Other airports often seem so dull to me that in the recent times I have noticed a clear drop in the number of scenery add-ons I purchase. Go figure...

Yer I hear you. Flightbeam and Flytampa are the very best.

KIAD to KBOS and back today and it’s just does not get any better.
