but there is a PhotoReal version of KLAX

Dave,

Are these airports available on AVSIM or only from their website?

I didn't see it posted here, but there is a PhotoReal version of KLAX which is absolutely fantastic!  We use it for guys in our group who don't have the FSDT payware and it matches up extremely well, plus it looks GREAT!

The author has done many airports as well... all VERY high quality, excellent performance, and free.  Not by the same author, but someone did a Photoreal KTPA which is really incredible (and free as well).  If I didn't already have the payware, I'd be iusing the photoreal for all the airports they did.

Dave, do you know if these are compatible with P3Dv4? I'm always wary when a product is described as being compatible with "Prepar3d" but there's no indication that it's 64 bit compatible.

Best regards,

Yes sir, P3DV4.  Just add them via Lorby Addon Manager, a similar tool, or manually and you're set.

Best wishes.

The software is available at many different websites, but I'm not sure if they're available at AVSIM.

The best site I've ever found for freeware scenery is http://www.freewarescenery.com/fsx.html which has links to the download sites.

Best wishes.

Here's the "old" and "outdated" FSDT KLAX, happily outperforming a native-P3D4 scenery (Aerosoft EDDF Professional), with the SAME settings and the SAME airplane.

So, while we'll certainly release a native remake for P3D V4, but after O'Hare AND JFK, which are in more dire need of an update, the current version will do just fine, and it's common knowledge to be one of our best performing sceneries under P3D4.

Completely agree with you Umberto!  FSDT KLAX is working very well in my system and does not feel outdated.  I will post a video later of my FSDT KLAX and ORBX SoCal combined.

I have FSDT KLAX and I really haven't noticed much performance issues with the airport. I know they were renovating a 1 or 2 terminals last year so I wouldn't mind seeing a v2 integrate those changes, but I am quite happy with the one I have now.

Think I will wait on v2.

Why not just install the airport and try it in trial mode and see for yourself? It will probably be more that a year before v2 will be out. If you don’t like it, simply uninstall it and download a freeware version.

Maybe, if we are lucky, they'll follow the same project which was posted years ago for the complete renovation of the Tom Bradley terminal, which means the scenery, as it is now, it's already updated, since we modeled it based on the published project, before it was completed so, in a way, the scenery has always been set in the future so, hopefully, there wouldn't be much to change, except for some parking numbers, which weren't final when the scenery was made.

Here is a video of FSDT KLAX in 4K (I don't use AA in my graphics).  Add-ons include PMDG, GSX, ActiveSky, and UTL, which I turned on and off a couple of times to show the FPS differences.

Uhh.. look at that... like 15 FPS when panning over at the terminals. Umberto can gather all the videos that showcases his scenery running perfectly but it still has performance issues compared to other sceneries, and many members have confirmed that. This video practically confirms it. I will make a video of my own and same thing.

I also think ORBX SoCal slows things down, but I'm too lazy to deactivate that scenery.  I can live with the current performance.

The scenery doesn't have ANY performance issues, and this was the only thing all 3 different videos/screenshots, from different users with different systems ( Avidean, Luis_KMIA and mine), clearly proved.

OF COURSE, as usual, you shouldn't make the mistake of confusing the supposed FSDT KLAX "performance problems" (which don't exist), with the performance problems of other sceneries in that area. I hope you don't expect an airport would be able to FIX bad performances of the surrounding scenery.

Now, check this video I just made now, and honestly tell me if this looks like a scenery that has "performance problems"

FPS drop when panning over terminals is exactly what I see as well. I don’t use Orbx SoCal, so I’m not sure what other scenery’s bad optimization bringing it down we’re talking about here.

I live with the performance issues and it’s by no means a horribly performing scenery overall, but it’s a fact that its performance isn’t excellent like my other FSDT sceneries.

If the problem is on my end, I’m all ears for how to fix it.

Lol! You expect us as customers to go off of a video that the developer made on his own system to judge performance lol

How about you stop replying here and take this time to go back into your office and fix the performance issue. You know, with all of this time spent defending it, you could of probably solved it! 😂
