it is absolutely anti-logical that PMDG would release an airplane that has been in development since 2007/8. That‘s the age of the first iPhone!!!

And I believe your assumption that it's been in active development for 10 years is flawed. Rob said it's been "percolating" since mid-2008, and he also said this in the 747-8 cockpit reveal:

Quote

We originally thought the J41 would release in late summer and showcase this new effect, but product development hit some snags and is still in holding since we moved development resources over to a major (massive… YUGE, even!) project that we haven’t announced yet

I believe the true development has only recently (within the last year) started. In the same way that the 747v3 was first announced in 2012, I think this new product line will be revealed and will cover the next 4+ years of PMDG products. And yes, by products, I mean aircraft.

this sounds so different from an actual airplane addon... but hey... we ARE GOING to know it soon enough 😁

This is very true - though I interpret this as just them saying the new aircraft will continue with their high standards. PMDG's vision is to make faithful recreations of aircraft to the finest detail...

Full size, not full motion.

...and we announced that at a previous conference, so it's definitely not that.

My apologies.

Is that project still in the works?

My guess is some sort of shared cockpit / multiplayer implementation.

Two quotes from Robert:

nice job, to be honest, I did watch all those videos on YouTube too, And I was also noticing what you quoted here. What I'm not sure about is what is it gonna be, What I'm sure about is we are all gonna be happy with it !

Cheers,

Yeah, but as mentioned in the presentation where we announced it, it's a 748 sim, so, I'm sure you can figure out the natural dependency that's still not out yet.

Is it a brand new online shop + a new forum? 😄

Hopefully not, 10 years for that. Plus it is not in one of the poll choices, aside from others 😄

With all RSR's mentioning of "Percolating", I reckon it's a new fancy coffee making machine !!
