Did LM change anything in the rendering engine, since you're experiencing a better lighting and material rendering?

They have done something new here I think. This is not just fresh lipstick on a pig, but a real change of direction or something. This is really improved Anders, almost-take-a-walk-outside-light-rendering.

They must have been able to find a way...

Kind regards,

Stephen

Sounds interesting... I'll see if I can try it out later tonight. Although a complete re-install of P3D is not really tempting

I don't want to ruin your party, but are those simmers experiencing a big improvement in performance sure that they still use the same settings? I mean, aren't the settings reverted back to default when updating the client? Then, as no weather addon is updated yet, might be that those clouds have a larger Impact than we thought, no? Just be careful before you compare stuff that is actually not comparable, so many times people reporting sudden FPS increase or better performance simply were not aware about settings that were reduced "automatically"...

Well, 9 pages of comments and all seems really positive. Not a bad word spoken.   I'll do a full install the weekend.

Hi AnkH,

Nope, same settings, same equipment, same old grizzled simmer.

Kind regards,

Come on!

Give people some more credit! Of course they check their settings (or even experimenting with set settings) before coming in here, and making such statements...

I may not get as excited as Mitch, but I am really impressed!

Well, I never really get excited from posts by Mitch but your posts do get me excited...! Of course you are coming from 4.0 so the difference may be a bit bigger for you than for those who also updated to 4.1 and 4.2 but still... I am curious to see how everything performs and looks on my PC, specially with dynamic lighting on.

Not sure what Mr. SpiritFlyer upgraded to, perhaps a different simulator but my 4.3 looks exactly like P3D has always done in its stock state.

Jeroen,

You must be thinking of someone else. I had 4.1 and 4.2 with all the trimmings and cranberry sauce. Have almost 500G of P3D and addons on a fast T SSD. No stock state here. Haven't seen one of those since I was a boy! 🙂

Kind regards,

Stephen

It is not about not giving them credits. It is just that usually, "miracolous" performance increases do simply not exist and usually they have a simple explanations. Just check the P3D official forums, there you read reports that some users get more stutters with 4.3 etc.

In the end, it will be as it was with any other update: for some it works better, for some worse. So many parameters playing a role..

Your high opinion of flight simmers is commendable but not realistic. 😋

Oops, my bad... too many posts in this topic in too little time and too little time to read and specially remember every detail. 😉 But that's good news!

EDIT

Must have been Bert Pieke with whom I was mistaken:

Well, I just took the plunge and went straight from V4.0. to V4.3.

Bert is a highly regarded member of the flightsim community and perhaps even from the same generation as yours so I am sure you won't mind my mistake here. 😉

Same here, but it's too late now. I already uninstalled my previous install of P3D v4.1. I'm doing a fresh clean install now. Definitely not looking forward to reinstalling all of my add ons all over again. But thankfully half of them I won't need to since I used the add-on.xml files. So All I gotta do is hit YES to enable them upon launching the sim.

Hey Guys,

It is just all P3D, no more or no less with what appears to be fairly substantial refinement in previously less capable areas.

No magic here, but what I suspect was a lot of hard work on LM's part and maybe a little bit of luck in some algorithm or other. It's not

real flight, but it is a darn good sim, better than before, and it wasn't so bad before either. I do have one problem now.

Tomorrow starts early and it is after 4 oclock in the morning. I will be like burnt toast...
