June 14, 20196 yr I`m Thinking could we be witnessing the birth of an Avsim record, a forum record for a product with NO PRODUCT we still have 7+ months to find out. Edited June 14, 20196 yr by rjfry Raymond Fry.
June 14, 20196 yr If MS is going to release a SDK to let 3rd party developers be part of this new flightsim, then both LM and Laminar will loose a big part of their currrent customers. Especially P3Dv5 has to have a new engine + DX12 features to get people to buy it as they otherwise will wait for the release of MS Flight Simulator.. 5950x3d 5.4-5.7 GHz - Asus ROG 870 Crosshair Apex - GSkill Neo 2x 24 Gb 6000 mhz / cas 26 - MSI RTX 5090 Gaming Trio OC - 1x SSD M2 6000 2TB - 1x SSD M2 2800/1800 1Tb - Corsair 5400 case - Corsair 360 liquid cooling set - 3x 75’ TCL tv. 13600 6 cores @ 5.1 GHz / 8 cores @ 4.0 GHz (hypterthreading on) - Asus ROG Strix Gaming D - GSkill Trident 4x Gb 3200 MHz cas 15 - Asus TUF RTX 4080 16 Gb - 1x SSD M2 2800/1800 2TB - 2x Sata 600 SSD 500 Mb - Corsair D4000 Airflow case - NXT Krajen Z63 AIO liquide cooling - FOV : 200 degrees My flightsim vids : https://www.youtube.com/user/fswidesim/videos?shelf_id=0&sort=dd&view=0
June 14, 20196 yr Actually, if p3d v5 can run at locked 60 fps with all sliders maxed out, I wouldn't have too much to complain.. The eye candy is good enough for me, altho night lighting tech could use an upgrade.. Same goes for xp11.. If they can get to 60 fps with vulkan, we have a pretty good package.. Obviously, this is all with payware add-ons, not the stock Sims, which will anyway beat 60 fps.. Vinod Kumar i9 10900K 5.3 Ghz, RTX 3090, 32GB RAM, Win 11. Maybe the promised article by Phil Spencer in PC Gamer https://www.pcgamer.com/microsoft-wants-to-bring-back-flight-simulator-to-show-it-supports-pc/ might provide a few hard facts on the ecosystem (or its lack). Not sure it's been already mentioned within those 58 pages, but that same Phil Spencer has already been Vice President of the MIcrosoft Game Studios when they made Flight! https://pcpilot.keypublishing.com/2010/08/17/introducing-microsoft-flight/ Kind regards, Michael Intel i7-13700K / AsRock Z790 / Crucial 32 GB DDR 5 / ASUS RTX 4080OC 16GB / BeQuiet ATX 1000W / WD m.2 NVMe 2TB (System) / WD m.2 NVMe 4 TB (MSFS) / WD HDD 10 TB / XTOP+Saitek hardware panel / LG 34UM95 3440 x 1440 / HP Reverb 1 (2160x2160 per eye) / Win 11

Lol, nothing to be proud of. More likely up to 19 months, after the new Xbox is released. Robin "Onward & Upward" ... To the Stars, & Beyond...
June 14, 20196 yr Actually, did anyone see this? https://www.pcgamer.com/xbox-game-pass-pc-game-list/ Announced at the Microsoft E3 press conference, the Xbox Game Pass for PC has entered into open beta today—meaning you can get access to around 100 PC games for $10 a month (there's a deal to try it for just $1 as a special E3 promotion). That's a pretty significant value—and it gives other similar subscription services like EA's Origin Access a run for their money. E3 is all about announcing new games, and Microsoft laid out 30 upcoming releases that will all be available through Xbox Game Pass at launch, meaning you don't have to shell out upwards of $60 for each game. Here's the full list of upcoming PC games that will be available on Xbox Game Pass at launch along with their expected release date. Killer Queen Black (fall 2019) Microsoft Flight Simulator (TBA) Nightcall (summer 2019) So, no doubt that it will be a subscription service! That's the access cost to the Games platform, NOT the cost of the game! Robin "Onward & Upward" ... To the Stars, & Beyond...

On XBOX you have the choice. You can use your Game Pass subscription, but you can also buy a game and play it even if you have purchased it with an active Game Pass subscrition which you cancelled later. I guess it'll work the same for PC. Edited June 14, 20196 yr by Airboeing

June 14, 20196 yr Yes, it's too early to tell. However, streamed gaming and subscription based platforms will definitely be the fututre, just like people are watching Netflix instead of buying DVDs or Blurays. I guess Steam, EA/Origin, Ubisoft etc. will all move to a subscription model within the next 5 years.

They will continue, regardless, unfettered. Laminar, may be a little concerned. The way I see it., everyone will buy MSFS2020, regardless of anything else. And as most novice users seem to be going the XP route these days, it seems that FS2020, may seriously dent that income stream when the time comes.
June 14, 20196 yr The launch trailer is very impressive, but it is way too early to tell if the rest of the feature list in this new Microsoft Flight Simulatior is going to match the graphics. That being the case, I have no intention of halting the (admittedly few and far between) purchases that I make for P3D. ORBx TrueEarth GB Central is top of the list (I wish we had an update for this), followed by the recently announced Professional version of Aerosoft Dublin. I used FSX in parallel with FS9 for about a 18 months before I dumped FS9. The same with FSX and P3D. Everyone will move exclusively to a new platform only when they are comfortable that a new platform meets their simming needs. But too many unknowns at this stage.

June 14, 20196 yr As I've mentioned before, Microsoft have new tech to show off...high speed data streaming for one...so what better way to promote that. Sometimes the product you see at the forefront is not necessary the main aim or objective of the company in question. Robin "Onward & Upward" ... To the Stars, & Beyond...

We'll know during the next 17 odd months. I can't guarantee it won't have a subscription fee, but have in mind it will have nothing to do with the service you quoted above (Xbox Game Pass). This service isn't meant to provide online gaming nor game streaming. It's just a subscription to have access to their library of games. If you want to buy those games, you can just buy on their store, like any other games. Microsoft's online gaming service is called Xbox Live (on Xbox, if you want play online, you can subscribe the Live Gold service). And their games streaming service is coming in october, it doesn't exist right now, it will be called Xbox Xcloud. This is the one is supposed to provide the streaming capatibilities for that matter.
