Bingo!

Some need to step away from the machine and drop a bit of the seriousness about their hobby. This is not life or death here.

Delivering “digital packages” on your “long haul FS Economy run” means nothing and has no implications other your own entertainment.

It’s all a big game folks.

Enjoy it for what it is - Entertainment.

I agree. Some folks are starting to shout and scream. Bad form I would say.

We must not forget/forsake the question: 'what if MSFS is NOT everything every simmer has ever dreamed of?'

Very easy solution to that. We all go back to our simming lives exactly like they were three weeks ago, exactly as they are right now and exactly as they will probably be for the best part of another year at least. Doesn't worry me. I was never expecting any more flight sims from Microsoft so computer gaming life will just go on for me as it has been. And if it does turn out to be great, well then fantastic!

Guys, it is just yet another game from Microsoft, no more, no less.

That comment about what if MS is NOT everything every simmer has ever dreamed of is quite weird indeed.

So much angst over a game. So what if it's not what every simmer/gamer has dreamed of.. Simple answer... FSX:SE, P3D, FlightGear, etc...

Get a life..get a girlfriend/boyfriend, whatever.. There is a lot more to dream about that a game from Microsoft.

A game you say? Blasphemy!  It can't possibly be a game can it? I'm devastated.

Flight simming is what it is to each person that does it. For me it's a diversion and a chance to recreate flights I've taken as well as create new one. I don't have the FS tattoo but I do have the hat and a shelf where all my FS goodies are.

I'm looking forward to a new version the same as I have been for each previous version. It's all In what you make it. So destress and have fun while learning something new or refreshing your skill set.

(what in the world was "Fentress). Thanks phone.😃

Thank you.

Sorry...you miss the point. I am talking about the gaming engine. It is a fact that some "simmers" don't do games...sorry just not interested. I in fact have played one game years and years ago. It was when someone had a golf game out. Other than that, never even bought one. It is not about who is labled what. I use computers for news and Flight Sim. Don't do Facebook, Instagram, none of that stuff. There are some of us and I know...not many LOL who have no interest in those things.

Edit: bad choice of words. I do in fact do games because I flight Sim.

Apologies then, guess i slightly misread your statement. I shouldn't visit the forum after midnight 😉

Of course the solution is easy, but for it to not worry you, is where I would differ. 'Concern' or "care', would be better words in this context for me personally.

Microsoft is that one company, out of 5-10 or so companies worldwide, that has the potential/willingness to develop a realistic global, home use flight sim. Of the other 9 (or whatever number) companies even for LM and LR its been a comparatively slow pace to what we used to have with FS1-FS2000. 9/11 messed it up for us for a little while, but we got back on track, though not at the pace we had, even so, the features were increasing greatly. As long as the feature increase is large, I do not mind a longer wait.

The good thing about P3D is that the releases have been close to clockwork. For me it is the one go to sim I can rely on. But at the same time, in my view V2 should have been 64-bit; heck, FS9 should have been 64-bit. 🤓

If Unigine or Outerra had an interest I think it would have been done by now. We have FlyInside making a flight sim and its coming along at a slow pace; we may have to wait 5-7 years before we have features exceeding the present. AF2 may never get the whole world done unless Orbx does it for them somehow.

So for me it would concern me greatly if MS fails once again...a very big deal. I really want (we flight simmers really need) MS to succeed. Leaps and bounds would likely follow.🤩

That would greatly concern me as well from the perspective that it would almost certainly be the final nail in the coffin - at least in my lifetime. I guess what I meant by not being worried was just from the personal perspective of already having been prepared to be "stuck" with MSFS for as long as computer could be built to play it, I just don't have any expectations above and beyond that (but I have hopes like almost everyone else does).

I would love for it to succeed as well and it would give me all the excuse I need to build a completely new machine from scratch - something I have not done for almost a decade. But things such as flight models (assuming the best add-ons), flight planning and the overall actual "acts" involved in VFR and IFR flying have already been (in my opinion only) covered pretty well by FSX with it's respective add-ons - and I don't really wish for a whole lot more in that particular respect, except for it to perhaps feel less sterile and less contrived.

But on the visual / immersion side of things I had always felt that it had a very long way to go - and if the new product can bring everything that has come before along with the visual and immersive updates then that pretty much has my "hopes" side of things covered.

Last time I flew for real back in November last year I remember the scenery and visuals being awesome. Completely indistinguishable from the real thing. 😉 For me to be able to witness how much closer a sim can get to that real experience is something I am sure everyone is looking greatly forward to, even if they have already spent thousands on add-ons.

That thought (what if they let us down again) is in the back of my mind as well,  But, while I hope that MSFS gives me what is missing in XP11 (my current main sim), if that doesn't happen there are some good things continually coming to XP11 and eventually XP12.  The next version of P3D will be there as well.  So, we have options - more now than when Microsoft got out of the FS business last time.

This would be a letdown if it wasn't a radical departure from the way things are done now by the two major players: LM and LR.  I want something that is a more complete sim out of the box and that is less of a pain to keep up-to-date.  If it's a 2020 version of Flight, it will be a disappointment to me.

Understood and agreed; thank you for taking the time to clarify.🙂
