Try looking at any virtual cockpit in both and then tell me you cannot see a huge improvement in clarity with UHD. Funny you say 4K has many negative aspects but fail to mention a single one. 🙄 It depends how the resolution is used and where. I have not given explanations because they can get highly complex. I will give one when I have a chance to put together a long post. For now, anyone who has a standard HDTV displaying at 1920x1080, go sit in your normal viewing position. Throw on your fav bluray. Look at your screen. How many pixels can you make out on your screen??? Entertain me with answers. Mark Daniels

You are talking about normal watching TV distance, here we are talking about flight simming or playing computer game, where people normally sit much closer to the screen. I have a 60 inch TV and when running P3D, I sit about 3-4 feet from the screen, the visual between Full HD and 4K is day and night different.
July 1, 20196 yr Commercial Member How many pixels are in view: Monitor and source are subject to both resolution and colour gamut. Without the full spec of the system, simply specifying a high res monitor does not solve issues of detail representation in the system. July 1, 20196 yr So we've got one person arguing his personal opinion that something is impossible on one side and several people actually doing it on the other. What should I believe? 😄 OK, I'm not sure how the 4K people handle small text that can't be resized, but if it's OK with them it's OK with me. Hook Larry Hookins Oh! Windows 10 has advanced scaling to make text easily readable. That feature is not present in Windows 7. That’s why if you’re going to switch to UHD you have W10. Ray (Cheshire, England). This kind of rescaling had some problems as it messed up some formatting. Having readable text (I was using 125%) was more important than minor formatting errors. Can you resize the Shift-Z text with a setting in Windows 10? This is the kind of tiny text I was talking about. If there is a Windows setting to handle this, it will be very valuable knowledge that can be passed on to people playing other games. I'm hoping there is. After cataract surgery I went back to 100% fonts. Hook Larry Hookins Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of EarthAnd danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
July 1, 20196 yr Moderator Larry, I suggest you raise a separate topic in the Windows 10 forum. It's unrelated to FS2020 debate. Ray (Cheshire, England). July 1, 20196 yr Hi all, Can we not call the sim MFS, as that is the official name that Microsoft is calling it? The official name is not the names that forum members have made up, such as FS2020, FS2019 or any other random name. Just saying, to keep things correct, as Avsimmers like to do. July 1, 20196 yr Commercial Member The reason for 4k and now 8k standards is to handle the dpi of the medium. Since we have 55" plus tv's becoming the norm pixels are becoming too large for the viewing distance. Having 8k and maybe 4k on monitors below 32" is cramming in too many pixels for no gain in eye to medium resolution. In the graphic I posted earlier I represented an image at 75% original size on the right made from more colours but appears to have similar resolution to the full sized mage. I think eslader is referring to the fact that there's more to pixels than the Curry's salesman's view on the subject. Edited July 1, 20196 yr by SteveW Steve Waite: Engineer at codelegend.com

I gave up some, Kerbal comes to my mind, because there was no scaling possible. I have to put my nose on the screen 😀. And I am wary to move to 4k for that reason too. Using 125% in W7. July 1, 20196 yr Commercial Member As it happens, talk of a new simulator program will without a doubt include discussion of hardware and other items, maybe other software as well. Individuals trying to take part in contextual subdiscussions already active should not have to worry about it. So please, the discussions inevitably move onto other things and mostly back to subject when left alone. Those attempting to interfere with the flow are just that. Let the discussion continue.
