Why is there negativity around peoples passion or obsession?

Shouldn’t we be happy that so many are still engaged and interested?

I don’t know about others, but it does sound like many of us had totally checked out from this hobby until this announcement.

I know the post you are referencing and I think you are reading too much into it.

Chill. I'm sure no offense was meant.

Passion or Obsession? I don't think it matters. To each his own.

Thank you.

I would hope no offense meant, but I guess I just don’t even see the point in going there.

It just seems like some people would rather everybody say nothing until the product is actually out.

That is exactly the opposite of how building excitement and anticipation works.

I would bet Microsoft is totally jampacked thrilled!! to see all of this conversation in the different places and how excited people really are.

I agree. As with any major release its the same. We get huge numbers of responses and we have to try to keep it civil. We might be Overly cautious in some instances but as I've told you already, we try to head things off for everyone's benefit.

Play on and enjoy.

Thank you.

It depends of what you put into the polygons, how large they are and how they are organized. Some Orbx LC sceneries don’t cost much for an impressive result over default.

LC maps aren’t of course  the alpha and omega of the scenery products. They will become obsolete someday. Much later than 2020 IMHO. They do a pretty good job right now.

😄  I thought you'd been around long enough to know that filled polygons means filled with a single color.  Textured polygons are better, textures spread across many polygons is probably state of the art right now.

I may miss all the subtilities of English from time to time, Larry.  Being French and all that 😀

Provided I can turn it off. 😉 I hate the DOF effect. Let my eye focus where I want to be looking, thanks. Save the artsy stuff for photos and video.

100% agree, DOF is the first thing I turn off in the options. The focus point is allways at the wrong distance for me viewing habits 😉

Depends on the game for me. I like DoF on narrative or RPG etc type games - I think it adds to the art - but not on sim type games, especially not driving games.

The driving games ones make me nuts. No, I really do need to see exactly what the next corner looks like, not an artist's interpretation of it.

Hmm, artsy blur (DoF sounds more technical though )... My very first move would be to shut it off like you. My question is  do you do that, right now, for lens flares in today's sims. That the first thing I do 😏

I do it for sims and games. Lens flares are *flaws.* They exist because of the way camera lenses work. When I was shooting for TV, I always tried to make my camerawork mimic how the human eye sees things. That helps put the viewer in the moment and make him feel like he's there rather than just watching it on a fancy picture box.

It's beyond me why people would want to introduce, on purpose, visual elements that remind you that you aren't participating in an event but instead are staring at a picture on a monitor.

Lens flares, DOF, motion blurs, that shaky-cam garbage.. All of it gets disabled if possible.

I'd also like to see accurate implementation of wing flex! PMDG are the only real developer who have done it right. More fuel=heavier, bouncier wings. Wing bounce on the taxiways and turbulence. It really adds to the immersion and I hope MS make it easy to implement!

No disrespect, but lens flare...really?  Help me here.

My understanding is more fuel leads to less wing flex, at least when airborne.  Wings should not flex very much on the ground (unless you're going over very large bumps, which really shouldn't exist anywhere an airliner taxis.
