15fps at EGLL-Help me get to 20 minimum?

It's threads like these that make me so glad that I stuck with my 2600K and instead learned how to tweak my way to better performance. 😁

I Agree totally with with you, It's funny to read every time that people with recent hardware have troubles in P3d and also XP11. I also have a 2600K running at 5 Ghz 16Gb standard 1600Mhz DDR3 RAM and a 6Gb 1060 and have P3d fully loaded with ORBX (Also Germany North/South) and high settings nice running with 30fps steady. The only place I have to throttle back a bit with the settings is TE The Netherlands in combination with Tampa Amsterdam with HiRes GA planes or the PMDG 737 NGX. Again, I am using also Aerofly with the highest settings and is for me the best running Sim. Everything maxed out and CPU running at 20% and the GPU 52% (?/!) I was able to run also VR in it (Steam VR Test Score 9.2) with a Samsung Odyssey 1.0 and ordered and waiting for the HP Reverb. Because this is 2x2K I am curious how this will run on these old rig..

Let us not forget the outstanding job the dev team has done to improve the P3D engine. 4.5 is leaps above the initial v4 release. Performance for me with version one was like being back at FSX.

My 9900K at 5.5GHz is cooled by an external liquid cooler (by Koolance. Even under heavy load the max CPU temperatures being reached are less than 40C.

The cache is clocked to 5.0 GHz, and the memory runs at 3.6GHz.

The two 2080Ti's (SLI linked) aren't overclocked. They don't get used enough at present -- max loading about 40% each. Really I should have had a single Titan instead (it's the memory I need at present, not the speed -- 24Gb on the Titan, 22GB on two 2080Ti's.

I am hoping that future versions of P3D, or perhaps MSFS, will make fuller use of the power of the GPUs in the video cards.

To those who say what's the point of such a beast just to get 20 fps, the point is that with 3 P3D4 windows at 1920x1080, to provide the wraparound view, you immediately cut P3D performance by at least 50%

Flying a 738 and prefering short flights (take-offs and landings are much more enjoyable than cruising), I spend a lot of time at or near the airports and I like them to look realistic -- with traffic densities close to reality.

Rather than think in terms of frame rates, look for smoothness.  Smooth 20fps is much better than stuttery 40 fps.

Most places, and flying, I tend to get 30 fps (my limit, set by RTSS), but that isn't possible at Heathrow, or Schiphol (as another example) with the traffic levels I desire.

I wish you could share a list of the bgls you deactivated for both regions. Please do that if you can. Or post a screenshot with those deactivated.

Thanks!

What I do with every Orbx region is to deactivate (= move to a different subfolder) all the files with an Airport-ICAO-Code in its name in the FTX_ ... _SCENERY folder.

I never fly to the Orbx default airports anyway and it helps with the overall performance and in particular with long frames when flying over Orbx regions.

So coool!!!  That is some equipment!!!

What are you guys both collaborating on 😉

I resolved all performance issues over England. Removed ORBX and bought  VFR NexGen 3D.

Stuttering is a thing of the past. Now I have 45-50 fps. (not advertising)

You haven't mentioned any Ai so that plus no 3rd party Heathrow will give you a huge boost. I have Aerosoft Heathrow Pro and AIG Ai with 100% set. With over 300 Ai in a 80nm radius and running 3840*2160 I get around 20fps on approach to 27R in the PMDG737. System specs in sig.

Brutal settings, why not notch them down a little bit, Ray? Just to leave a little headroom against occasional hiccups and add some unoccupied gates at arrival?

Dirk.

The approach to Heathrow from London is the most demanding scenario for my system. 20fps is plenty for the approach and landing. Elsewhere in the world the fps are higher on approach. And I like to see plenty of variety with different airlines.

I can still park at the gate. Sometimes there is a bit of a queue for departure but if I get impatient there’s always the Traffic Zapper. 😁

Put simply, you are asking too much of the graphics card. You either improve your PC or reduce graphic quality. Aerosoft Heathrow is VERY heavy, you can't run that alongside Orbx England in most systems so disable it and fall back to OpenLC EU and see how that improves things. Also remove all those cfg tweaks and see if that improves anything, I'm very against tweaking the cfg with P3Dv4 as it mostly sorts itself out now.

Setting adjustments you could make: I only run 8x AF filtering myself. Set a target framerate of 30 fps or so. You can see my full settings at https://snag.gy/baZD49.jpg which could be a handy reference as my system is similar specs to yours.

ckyliu, looking at your profile I must say you run very demanding settings for your hardware, congratulations, they look very encouraging. And I'm still in the process of installing P3Dv4.5 (flying xp11 orbx te england, can't get enough, but missing p3d fsl and pmdg)

Thanks

Oh those poor people getting snuffed out on your whim  :)

FSX SDK had a crude traffic board type app that allowed this, but with P3D, are you using something else (or IS there something else) to instantly zap an AI aircraft?

Registered version of FSUIPC5. 😃 The Ai aircraft does need to be right in front of you.
