15fps at EGLL-Help me get to 20 minimum?

Featured Replies

I run ORBX England and Aerosoft LHR, to get the best performance I deactivated all of the BGLs which apply to airfields I do not visit (all of the GA stuff).

I now have the good looking cities and a much better frame rate (plus 10 in the London area), the downside is that the P3D default airfields are covered in trees but I can live with that

I have also done this with the other region products like SoCal and have much better FPS there also, wont be for everyone but worked for me.

Put simply, you are asking too much of the graphics card. You either improve your PC or reduce graphic quality. Aerosoft Heathrow is VERY heavy, you can't run that alongside Orbx England in most systems so disable it and fall back to OpenLC EU and see how that improves things. Also remove all those cfg tweaks and see if that improves anything, I'm very against tweaking the cfg with P3Dv4 as it mostly sorts itself out now.

Setting adjustments you could make: I only run 8x AF filtering myself. Set a target framerate of 30 fps or so. You can see my full settings at https://snag.gy/baZD49.jpg which could be a handy reference as my system is similar specs to yours.

How do I disable it, without uninstalling it?

Cheers, Ollie.

Hi I just purchased Aerosoft EGLL, nice looking airport.

Specs:

i5 8600K @5.0Ghz

GTX 1060 6GB

16GB RAM

With a PMDG 777, I'm barely getting 15 fps 😛

I run Orbx England, Vector, Open LC, as well as Sky Force + Enviro Force. I use 514 textures for SF+EF.

Settings:

https://ibb.co/ZxBfYT9
https://ibb.co/NTJVNSp

Also I have applied these tweaks:

[DISPLAY]

TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT=160

[SCENERY]

MaxRegionsPurgePerFrame=1

[JOBSCHEDULER]

AffinityMask=63

[TERRAIN]

TEXTURE_SIZE_EXP=9

At major city airports you need to consider lowering AI & car traffic. Adding the 777 will require that you lower the AG to dense or even normal. I would also disable any ORBX sceneries that you do not need for the region.

Ok using the FTX Central all of Orbx products are now classified as 'Add-ons' this makes it MUCH easier to disable, as all you do is go to addons in P3D menu and disable them, piece of cake 🙂

It's possible I missed a big piece of news, but to the best of my knowledge, OrbX addons are not actually classified as addons within P3D, are they? If you want to disable OrbX stuff the best thing is to probably uninstall it through FTX Central. You could of course deactivate it within the scenery library, but that wouldn't get rid of all sorts of additional files that are not stored within the directory that you deactivate, using that method.

Or, if you use Lorby's P3D Addon Organizer, you can disable/enable them there..

Wow! That did the trick 🙂 Now running at 24FPS!!

Another thing you might want to do is save your configuration as "London".  (I assume you know you can save slider settings as a "profile" in P3D, using the "save settings" button shown in your screenshot #1.)  That way, you can go back to your higher settings once you are away from London.

I run "vanilla" P3Dv4.5 (Deleted ORBX all together) and things run beautiful and silky smooth now. . .Lol.

Yes I know, I spent hundreds and hundreds on ORBX, but at the moment (until the new FTX Central is released), I prefer silky smooth flight models without obnoxious micro stutters accompanied with obsessive placebo tweaks which ultimately turn me off all together.

Note: Sorry I lied. I also use Active Sky with very high settings. The weather experience is fantastic since I love flying IFR.

Just my experience and opinion for now.

V4.5HF1 was about 7% lower FPS than V4.4 ... but if you want to put that into perspective installing Orbx Germany North/South (only from default install) in V4.4 introduces 37% FPS drop.

Not sure I understand your question, but LM has stated clearly that this entry has no purpose and can create unwanted effects.

The option should be set in the user interface, with High Resolution Textures on or off.

You can use =10 if you have High Resolution textures set to on, but this puts quite a heavy load on the system.  The whole purpose of this discussion was to get better performance, so no, not a good idea. :cool:

Thanks, it was just i saw it in Robs spreadsheet above, but you said not to put the terrain_exp setting in the cfg
