I will not under any circumstances, enter my long card number, expire date and cvs number into a vender that takes no responsibility if things go south. Stripe, never heard of them..but are as good as PayPal so certain people would like us to believe. No they are not. Period.

How are others doing it without entering your card details online?

Do I really, in this day in age, have to go to my bank, open a separate account, wait 3-5 days for card to arrive, load it with credit, and go about it that way???

You don’t say where in the world you live (why not?) but here in the U.K. I got fed up being charged 3% for every purchase when using PayPal or my usual credit card. Credit card purchases are 99.999% safe so I don’t understand your reluctance to use them. Providing the site has the green padlock sign and is an https address it’s about as safe as you can get.

I now have a dedicated credit card which does not have a surcharge for purchases in a foreign currency. That’s the best solution for me. Your credit card company will provide protection if things go wrong but ORBX is safe as far as I’m concerned. Been buying online for 20 years. Never had a problem.

For some it's the reluctance to carry debt, also if you're in some sort of insolvency you can't get a card.

Paypal or bust!

For those that don't want to carry debt or still want to use their paypal account just get a PayPal Prepaid Mastercard, you simply reload it from your paypal account.

You carry debt only if you overspend what is on your account. You can do that with a checkbook too.

That can be solved by paying off the full amount each month. On my new card I chose that option and the outstanding balance is taken from my nominated bank account each month. Haven’t paid interest in yonks.

I accept if you’re insolvent it’s more difficult but for those in that situation you wouldn’t expect they wouldn’t be buying software in the first place.

I've never really understood either. Credit cards are a wonderful way of handling payments. Last time I wrote a check was in 2012, last time I paid with cash was 5 or 6 months ago...I had to use PP once, was not overly impressed.

Checks? What are they? I'm just kidding of course.

Seriously though, when I first opened an account at Chase many years ago, I declined ordering a checkbook. Instead I asked them to give me six 'counter checks' which they were happy to do for me. I still have five of the original six in my desk drawer.

For those few accounts to whom I prefer to send a check, I can login to my bank's website, and have them send a check for me. It costs me nothing. They will print and mail the check for me gratis.

Write a check and the receiver now knows your routing number and your account number, it's printed on the bottom. Use a credit card and the receiver knows the card number. Use Paypal and it's safe. Paypal even has a scam guarantee. I've used it about 4 times. Worked perfect got money back.

There is no good reason in the world that Orbx won't take Paypal.

Oh yes, I understand why ORBX do not use paypal, ORBX need the money from there sale, and paypal would not give them the money. Old story.

No they don't. If the site is https that is secure and that info is hidden from the seller.

Only if you order over the phone and speak your number will it be known. I have done that many times in the UK and never had a problem.

Best way  to purchase  things  is  to place  cash  in a  envelope and  send  it  thru  the  mail,  sure  way  of  not  letting  any  one  know  your  card  number   details 🙂

I know this topic is old. But if anyone is like me they are still trying to figure a way to purchase these great sceneries. I purchased Oregon with a friends card who was in the military as those cards work around the world. Purchase went through great. Well then Florida came out and my buddy is deployed. I sat wishing he was in town trying to figure a way to purchase orbx. I tried putting in my info. Nothing as expected. Called my bank they said there wasn’t even a pending transaction. Contact orbx. They said contact the bank. Stuck again. But I called my bank again and asked if I had an international restriction. They said no. I asked them to watch my account as I put it into the site. They did. They saw it come through and go away. They said it was indeed the currency conversion. Not that I couldn’t use my card in another country. But that I couldn’t use it in another country from the U.S. I was asking the wrong question. They said they could open the restrictions for 24 hours if I want them to. I said I just need 5 min. Boom transaction complete. I have a very small town bank. I’m not sure if anyone has tried this but sometimes we’re asking the wrong question. She even said they will watch my account closely over the next week as I told her I don’t like putting my account info on the interwebs like that. Hope this helps someone.

Will not go near PayPal again with a 10ft pole,

Funny how eBay are now advising sellers not to take PayPal it`s now used as a scam, a woman sold some gold rings and other gold jewellery on eBay, it was using PayPal over £2,000 worth, the buyer after the purchase complained to PayPal that the goods were not as stated PayPal refunded him then sent a bill to the seller, she never received the goods back PayPal is taking her to court, she has to now spend money on a court case to defend her, this was on TV last year in a program about scammers.

PayPal isn't any less secure than any other online payment method. ORBX had a running dispute with them a while back so now they won't use PayPal, which is unfortunate.

Expect they do now accept PayPal (again)!

Agree, PayPal is no less secure than other online payment portals.
One can get scammed in all sorts of ways, all PayPal does is stop someone from having their details stolen at the same time.
