About sloped (?) runways

I dont know about you guys, but I'm definitely going to take the word of the guy who has 0.07 "likes" per post.

He is trolling, on every single post. One thing is having an opinion and other thing is attacking everything that other people sees good about the game.

And if he isn’t, then he should search for a new hobby. So much negativity couldn’t be healthy.

The screenshot speaks for itself. Your baseless claim doesn't match what we can all see with our own eyes.

It's a graphical artefact IMHO.

Not trolling. Like I said IMO there are no sloped runways in FS2020, the proposed "evidence" is nothing more than a graphical artefact.

Just out of curiosity, X-Plane, but also ELITE and even Aerowinx PSX do have slopped runways and taxiways, although at a rather rough resolution in the case of ELITE and PSX.

AMD Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB, 1 TB and 500 GB nvme2 SSD drives, HP 27" 60Hz LED monitor @ 1920x1080, T16000, Hotas from old X52 Pro, Saitek Combat Rudder Pro (2010 model)

@MatthewS Same airport, different pair of runways.

Even if one doesnt have specific knowledge of LAX, if one actually studies the images it's pretty obvious they're not the same runway. Compare the approach lights (MALSR vs ALSF-2); compare the runway lights (TDZL); compare the runway width; look at the mountains vs water background.

You can't claim the sloping effect is an "artifact" if you haven't even studied the images. Be more objective. And observant.

ETA: Even in your linked image, both runways exhibit an obvious slope at the very far end of the runway, near the threshold. Yes, there are compression artifacts at high-zoom, but that is easily separable from the curvature of the runway lights.

The late Garry Smith did sloping runways and ramps in some of his Ford Tri-Motor sceneries for FS2004.

This discussion about a blurry night picture reminds me of the theological disputes of the late Byzantine empire 😁

One thing is sure. The FS20 team would make a lot of people happy showing a sloped runway in daylight in a normal setting (I mean not Courchevel or Lukla).

Again I say it's simply an artefact.  In both cases the apparent "slope" appears at the far end of the runway.  Show me a screen shot or video where the slope is unequivocal.

Also, apparently FS2020 is based on FSW.  Did FSW support sloped runways, I don't think so.

It's really a shame, but IMO FS2020 does NOT support sloped runways based on the available "evidence".

Yep, just by looking at XPlane it's apparent that in the real world 90% of runways have obvious slope / undulation.  Not seeing that in FS2020.

Of course MSF or MSFS2020 (or whatever we are calling it) is going to have sloped runways! Do you think Microsoft is some amateur outfit?!

Slope rhymes with hope. A good omen ? 😁

I think they might avoid showing such a feature specifically because it is considered something normal (in XP at least) and it's something amazing only for those users who are mostly playing on something (P3D) which, with all the improvements, is still based on a over 10 years old engine.

Nowadays topics are more about graphical technology like PBR, Ray Tracing, dynamic lights, noise generated clouds, VR, 4k performance etc etc

Chock 1.1: "The only thing that whines louder than a jet engine is a flight simmer."

If we’ve learnt anything it’s that Microsoft will answer the question in an update post if opinions are split . Like the ‘weeds’ post.

I don’t think Microsoft could make sloped runways, only elite coders could do that.

Also I love all the stuff that people think  Azure AI is going to fix 🙂

There's no actual evidence whatsoever that the new sim is based on FSW, just speculative comments by people who have nothing to do with the development of the sim. That's unless, of course, you have an actual statement to that effect from MS.

As for sloped runways, as the old saying goes, "absence of evidence is not evidence of absence". There are many important things that haven't been officially announced yet.
